  1. Hello all, I am a recent new graduate RN and applying for a New Grad Residency program in North Carolina. I've never had to write a cover letter before, let alone for a nursing position. Can anyone offer any advice/direction? I've looked up examples and they vary widely from what to include to length. Thanks in advance!
  2. I am starting block one in the Gateway Evening program in August and am looking into buying my books used online. Can anyone who has done this tell me if and where you can separately buy the access codes that are also required?
  3. Just curious if anyone has gotten their info packets yet? And if so, for which program?
  4. In Gateway evening, when do classes usually end in spring semester for summer?
  5. I got my first and only choice, Gateway Evening!!!! I deferred last semester. My stamp was 12/12.
  6. I know, right! This has to be our semester! It seems like it is taking forever and the day is dragging on..
  7. @CateinPhoenix I ended up just putting down one choice, Gateway Evening. Since Glendale only had one spot and I really prefer more nights than weekends, I left the other two off. Though I may add them back again if I don't get placed the first round. My stamp is 12/7/12 8:01:05.
  8. Usually it takes around 2 hours..I'm one of the older stamps so I've been through this a lot! Definitely anxiously awaiting an email!!
  9. There are usually some part-time positions, you just have to be diligent about checking job postings every couple of days. I only had about 4 months of nursing home and 5 months of hospital experience in Missouri before I moved and got a job here at Banner part-time. I say go for it if you want to get experience and work in a hospital. Just start applying and see what happens! There are usually quite a few PCA positions posted at a time at my hospital. Also, you can get on a site like indeed.com, select the employers you want to follow and sign up to get emails every day for new job postings at those places. That's how I found my job. Although you can also check the specific hospital group's website consistently, but that takes a little more work and remembering to do it. Oh, and they are typically 12 hour shifts so part time is 2 shifts/ week.
  10. I'm a CNA at Banner Desert in Mesa. It's the only place I've worked in Arizona, but I would definitely recommend Banner. At least at my location, there is a great team mentality among the staff and the people are great. I believe there are PCA (CNA) positions posted on the website now, and Banner has multiple locations throughout the valley.
  11. I am a CNA also, and I think that having a connection to a hospital and experience in that setting may help us when it comes to finding RN jobs.
  12. I have one of the older stamps at December 2012, however, I specifically needed a night/weekend program, so I had to defer when I was placed last semester in a day program. I expect to get into one of my top 2 choices this fall.
  13. Has anyone got an email about reaffirming interest on out application pages? I feel like they have not posted any updates on the status page about when placement for fall will start and I feel like they usually have posted something by now.
