Maricopa Waiting List / Placement / Timestamps 2010+

U.S.A. Arizona

Published

Hey everyone, I wanted to start a place for people to post and repost about waitlist times, placement runs, and their timestamps.

It is very hard searching for all the information and maybe people will access this thread and keep it updated with information so we all can get some idea on where we stand in line for Maricopa Nursing Placement.

As for me I have a

6/11/10 8:01:32 Timestamp. The placement just ran on March 6th,2012 and I was not placed. On the application website it says that the placement did NOT reach the June timestamps. This will mark 5 semesters that I was not placed (was expecting a 3 semester wait)

I am curious how far the placement ran. If people that were placed during the last placement run (3/6/12) come across this thread and would be willing to post their timestamp and what school choice number (1 through 5) they were placed in that would give an indicator how far away it is.

With almost 2500 people still on the waiting list it looks like it can be a 4-5 year wait for people just now getting on it. :(

Look forward to chatting with all of you and good luck.

I am a CNA also, and I think that having a connection to a hospital and experience in that setting may help us when it comes to finding RN jobs.

Where are you a cna at if you don't mind my asking? I've been looking for a great place to work. A lot of places don't have good reviews Or is there a place or places you recommend to work?

The nursing shortage isnt really real. Technically there are not enough nurses for the population treated, however with hospital cutbacks and overworking the nurses that do have jobs, it makes for less jobs available. Because of hospitals wanting to hire less nurses for more work, they usually want experience and higher degrees. This also adds to the struggle. If you have CNA experience (especially in a hospital), or are open to work anywhere for your first year or two to get some experience, then you should be able to get a job relatively quickly.

I work in LTC and am pretty much guaranteed a job there when I pass NCLEX. I dont want to be in LTC forever, but at least it will be some experience until I can get a hospital job. My heart is in L&D (like so many others), but I do like the residents at my facility and would enjoy being their nurse.

I should also note that it shouldn't be this bad for too much longer. The baby boomers will eventually have to retire, and there will need to be nurses to take their place. I just hope medical facilities account for this for us new nurses to learn from the more experienced nurses before they are gone.

Thanks great to know! I've been looking for a good place to work and I read reviews a lot of them aren't great. Is there a place for a cna to work in the Gilbert or Mesa area. If anyone has any recommended places please share! Are you too waiting to get into the program? Or did you already go through it and studying for your nclex

I'm a CNA at Banner Desert in Mesa. It's the only place I've worked in Arizona, but I would definitely recommend Banner. At least at my location, there is a great team mentality among the staff and the people are great. I believe there are PCA (CNA) positions posted on the website now, and Banner has multiple locations throughout the valley.

Thanks good to know. Is there a lot of part time positions usually at hospitals do you know? That's what I'm kinda looking at right now. What is your typical shift? I did nursing home for four months and moved here. I hear it is hard to get into the hospital. Is there a high turnover ? I would like to work at the hospital, but I doubt I can get hired without a lot of experience.

There are usually some part-time positions, you just have to be diligent about checking job postings every couple of days. I only had about 4 months of nursing home and 5 months of hospital experience in Missouri before I moved and got a job here at Banner part-time. I say go for it if you want to get experience and work in a hospital. Just start applying and see what happens! There are usually quite a few PCA positions posted at a time at my hospital. Also, you can get on a site like indeed.com, select the employers you want to follow and sign up to get emails every day for new job postings at those places. That's how I found my job. Although you can also check the specific hospital group's website consistently, but that takes a little more work and remembering to do it. Oh, and they are typically 12 hour shifts so part time is 2 shifts/ week.

Thanks I will do the indeed thing. Is a PCA the same as a cna ? Why is it PCA and cna here? I never had heard about it where u live that must be an az thing. So you work part time two days a week 12 hours? That's the typical shift? Do they ever call and call to work more that's one thing I've heard about hospitals. That's also what I've been wondering. Do you like working there? I've heard crazy things about hospital work so kinda worries me some. What if I can't handle it as a cna? Im always told never work in a hospital so makes me think. Nice to hear good feedback though. I live closer to mercy Gilbert and I wonder if that hospital is good like yours? I'm new here so Idk much about anywhere. Thanks sorry for all the questions

I looked it up is the banner desert the Cardin and children's medical center the one you're talking about? That is what I keep finding. Thanks

Banner Desert Medical Center and Cardon Children's Hospital are co-located on the same campus.

Oh, thank you for replying!

Looks like it is time to re-affirm interest.

I deferred last semester to have a better chance at the night/evening programs so I can continue to work. Now I see there are very limited spots for Glendale which is my 1st choice, I guess they are all for CEP?
