I signed up to interact with other nurses, to learn from nurses, to find entertainment, and to rant about my job. After study-time and on off days, I also come to allnurse to read recent post about nursing to stay updated about the nursing world.

I am out of the nursing game temporarily right now until the beginning of 2015. My husband and I are stationed in Japan. The 3 years is almost up! I like reading about other nursing happenings and interesting drama. I've been reading about RN programs and NCLEX exam experiences. I am far off from that, but good to see how things are right now. I took my NCLEX-PN in 2006! I can't wait to get back in to nursing, making good money, taking care of people, and going back to school to get my RN :)

I can't remember how I found AN, but I believe I found the breakroom early on, so I kept coming back because I loved the hysterical humor of the quick-minded, smart, silly people who were posting. I have, at times, used AN to vent and to give support to some of the others venting. But I am really here for the interactive, back-and-forth exploration of the 'ridiculosity' of life in general.

Can't tell you how many times my husband has poked his head through the doorway and just LOOKED at me because I was having so much fun, laughing out loud. Just me and my laptop and a community of brain ticklers!

I'm a nursing student just getting into the profession. I feel like AN is the trenches. I see what REALLY happens in nursing when I come here. My fundamentals textbook actually still insists there is a nursing shortage. Hah! I'll take all the education I can get, and AN gives me invaluable street smarts.

Also true for me, Amnesty! Thanks for putting it so well.

I also come for the inspiration, mentoring and learning help. Allnurses, I'm bringing you with me to nursing school and keeping you with me when I get into the workaday world.

:inlove:

I love the camaraderie! Hearing about the different specialties from the nursing perspective is very interesting. I am a people "watcher" & hearing about each member's experiences is satisfying.

And okay... sometimes I enjoy the drama :whistling:

I visit because it is a great place to get and give support. ?

I am an LPN and a grandmother. I have been in nursing for 30 years working mostly with the geriatric population. I have a BA degree in Bible, Ethics and Leadership and for several years have been ministering to nursing home residents and their families, as my job would allow, assisting them with their spiritual needs and encouraging them. I am ready to retire from the daily nursing demands but would love to continue in ministry. I feel nursing homes and hospitals need this ministry. I would like to know where to go in education from here (for the Chaplaincy) or in another job training situation. Please advise!

I like this website because I can type certifications I don't know about, or just about anything else, in the search bar and threads will pop up explaining the subject. Sometimes the threads are older. Sometimes they are more current. It has been very helpful for several years. I just became a "member" today after lurking/reading/learning for years..... This site has been very helpful.

Specializes in Critical Care, ED, Cath lab, CTPAC,Trauma.
