  1. A employer asked me at an interview for a nurses aid job how I made end meets if I didn't have a job. she was eager to find out the truth about me. Although I never have had any criminal background, I felt like a criminal when I left her office. She wanted too much personal information in the interview. She wanted to know about my family, which is not allowed. My friend told me when someone ask information about my past to tell the employee I didn't need to work because my uncle left me money when he passed away. I went to her office to give her my criminal history sheet which was cleared from any crimes. When I got to her office she said i had an interview that day at three O'clock. I thought another interviewer. I told her I could not stay for the interview because I had other things plan for the day. I went to the other interview that day which is sitting with a lady. I was upset that she dropped an unexpected interview on me The whole interview felt nonprofessional and couldn't deal with with it since I just left a job for being unprofessional. The next day I called her thanking her for an interview and a few other things to smooth over the situation. I sit with the lady till she passed away.
  2. they can determine if you get the position by your credit score???? It has nothing to do with nursing skills, and some people come from a hard spot that wants to better their lives.
  3. I am afraid of an employee spitting in my food at a restaurant if he/she becomes upset with me. I don't trust people one hundred percent. I never would eat food left unattended on table. People are too mean.
  4. I knew two girls with funny names: Candi Green and Sandy Glass.
  5. My school requires structure and function of the human body-5, Math-3, English-3, Computer class-3, Nutrition-3, and physiology-3 but this is a LPN program. The classes at a tech school are less difficult than classes at a community college because there are no labs attached to the anatomy classes at the tech school. The classes at a tech school are exhilarating way to caught up on the basics after being out of school for a couple of years. Although I am glad I took the classes for a refresher, I am ready to get through these classes and get my ASN.
  6. Years back, I remember a discussion about Police Officers were required to be a certain weight etc before they could be hired as a law enforcement officer. They wanted to do the same thing to truck drivers. Truck drivers can't drive a truck if they have health problem. Someone with health problems could have a stroke or heart attack while driving a truck and kill another person, then the truck company gets sued by the family. The health field is not the only people dealing with this issue.
  7. Sorry, the space bar got stuck and words got pushed together.
  8. I worded my paragraph in an awkward way so appreciate no one took offense to what I wrote here. In saying that, I admit that I have some problems myself. I've never beendiagnose with a disability; however, I have several disabilities, which are hearing lost in one ear and inability to write clearly whenforming a sentence. I tend to write words in the wrong order.Although I lost some of my hearing from earaches while growing up, Ican still hear well enough to hear the sounds through a stethoscope. This article is an inspiring story for people like me. She inspiresme to fight for what I want in life that is to attend nursing school.
  9. I read an interesting article about a deaf LPN nursing student who was dismissed from a nursing program at a community college because she was deaf. Supposedly, the college violated a rule of the disabilities act when they dismissed her from the LPN-RN program. She won her lawsuit against them. What do you think about a deaf nurses working in the medical field? Could her lack of hearing put a life in danger? If she can't do her job and puts someone's life in danger, the hospital will be sued by family members. Yes, people can't be discriminate against because of a disability but where should the line be drawn. I want your input on this.
  10. I had some great professors in college and not so great professors in college. She's one of the not so great teachers. It's one of those cases where you see stuff but hard to prove it. I did not give great details of the whole situation. She's in a position where she has power over people and it goes to her head. Of course, I must learn to deal with all kinds of people in the world. The hardest situation for me is someone flat out lying about me to snowball my job. I've had that done to me at a job. I was a nurse's aid for two years and knows how to deal with situations. The hardest part of the job was dealing with overbearing family members and lazy employees but I did well with it. I'm done with this situation and still have a "B" in the class so good riddance to a rubbish situation that could have hindered me from going into nursing. I just needed to rant about the situation and did not explain well.
  11. Has anyone ever hadan unfair professor that treats students unfairly except for a fewstudents. I felt I was treated unfairly by a teacher and wantsomething done about it so she doesn't treat others unfairly. I'mafraid reporting her will only harm me and the problem won't getresolved. I don't want my future hindered by this problem. I gotreally upset with us today because I asked her if she was gradingpapers for people who stayed after class and although I was the firstto ask her, she made sure she graded my paper last. She never givesus full class time to finish a test. Today she gave us a 45 questiontest and gave us less than 35 minutes to finish it. I read thechapter 3 times plus studied and still made a 69 on the test. Italked to another student after class, finding out she uses her powerpoints which are totally different than the book. She lies aboutwhat's on the test and adds question that are not in the chapter thatwe are going over. Luckily, I could drop her anatomy class since Ionly retook the class for a refresher course. I'll keep my B”and she can play head games with someone else. I took many collegecourses in the past few years and never had problems with myprofessors. Hope everyone drops her class at midterm and she ends upwith no students left in her class. I must find a way to prove whatshe is doing before I can report her. I'm glad I got a great math anda fantastic nutrition teacher. How would you handle the situation?
  12. I am a prerequisitenursing student. I am currently taking Anatomy with a teacher thatmakes up the rules as she goes along. Today, I went to class to taketest one and after she was 5 minutes late, she announced she wantedus to do the first part of our test on the black board, delayingclass another 15 minutes. I felt frustrated with her randomlychoosing to use blackboard without any prior warning. After westarted the test and everything was going well...right? No! She toldus that she had a meeting and needed to end class at 2:20pm leavingus with a little more than an hour to finish a 100 question test, which average about 1.7 min per question. I finished my test andhanded it in to her. Although I believe I did well on the test. Ifeel unease with her fairly grading my paper. She's so wish washy andarrogant about everything. Her study guide of stuff on the test thatshe gave the class was so so correct except for questions that shehad on the test that she did not go over with us. I'll preparedmyself for the next test by knowing the facts thoroughly. ThankGoodness this course is a refresher course and I know some of theinformation. I feel she has favorites and she does not care about therest of the class. I believe she lied about having a meeting to leaveclass early. If she had a meeting then why not tell us about it atthe beginning of the class. I know people forget stuff; however, Isense she's there for a check and not concern with the studentsexcept for a handful. I answered a question that she asked the classand she responded in mocking, sharp way. Oh, Did I mention, When sheasked the students to raise their hands if they already knew the nineregion abdominopelvic region, I raised my hand. She's said you'd knowit. What kind of response is that? Getting through this class isgoing to be interesting.
  13. Congratulations on a high score on Hesi.
  14. This is my experience with those kind of situations. I worked as a C.N.A at an assistant living who hired new people just out of high school to supervisor older C.N.A of 5+ years. The boss wanted young people who could get the job done. They are failing miserably and management is too dumb to realize it. Young people has not experienced life enough to understand humility of taking care of others. These kids thinks it's about getting the job done and don't worry a resident's needs. They don't try to feed the residents who don't eat well. After feeding a resident, a resident living there walked up to me and thank me for feeding the resident. She said they never try to feed him and he just sat there. This person has Alzheimer and needs feeding. I see it but can't stop it from happening because the management is set on letting young people run the place. Thank god, they laid me off. I can't deal with their dysfunctional ways anymore. Some of the family sees what goes on and leaves their family member there because it cost less to live there. After working at an assistant living, I pray I never need anyone to take care of me. Starvation isn't the best way to dye. Hope they shut the place down soon.
  15. My family and I argues about whether or not germs got into a refilled liquid soap bottle after reusing a refillable bottle several times. I say yes, it does, and they do not concur with me.When I worked as a CNA at a assistant living, a Practitioner came to our place of employment to talk about germ control. She said when they put liquid soap from a refilled bottle under a microscope, they saw many nasty germs in the soap. I wanted an opinion from professional people who worked in health field and came here for opinions on this matter. My family said I worry about germs too much;however, They did not see the stuff I did at work as a CNA. My concern is mostly having clean hands before I touch food, other than that, I really don't worry about germs. I am excited to hear your opinion on this matter. Thanks in advance.
