when it is you week-end to work does your work place have you to work the week-end you're off? and how often do you have someone calling in sick the day after payday?

We have to work every other weekend. We're self-scheduling so generally we get to choose our weekend. We have some per diem people that don't work weekends, and we have one week-end option worker who works only weekends.
If we miss a weekend because of illness we have to make it up. I'm doing that this coming weekend because last month I was very sick and couldn't work one of my weekends. So I'm working three weekends in a row.
We don't have a problem of people calling in on paydays.

Some how I didn't quite understand exactly what you are asking - but I'll try to give a good response.
The nurses on my unit work every other weekend. The only time we do not have to work our weekend is if switch with another nurse, which means we both work three weekends in a row:barf02: . If we are on a leave of absence (had surgery, family medical leave, etc...) then it is up to the manager to figure out how to cover our shifts on the weekends.
Occasionally, if they have a sick call on the weekend I am NOT supposed to work, they may ask me to work - but then I get time and a half (and usually jump on it)
We just adopted a policy of 'occurances' for late or sick calls. Six in one year and goodbye. Prior to that, you knew who was going to be 'sick' and when. Doesn't happen so much anymore.

I work every 6th weekend. We don't have any problems with people calling in sick on their weekend to work. On the occassion when someone is sick, our director takes that weekend. No big deal to her. We don't have a problem with people not coming on payday or the day after either.

I work per diem/casual. I'm only "available" 2 shifts/week; I'm required to work 2 weekend shifts per 4 week schedule; also one "winter" holiday and one "summer" holiday.
I actually self schedule for Sundays and Thursdays, so I'm working more weekend shifts than I have to. And if I'm called for extra shifts, I'll usually take them. It's very much to my advantage to be as flexible as possible.
I have not noticed anyone calling in sick the day after payday.

We work every other weekend, if we call in sick then we have to make it up. Calling in on a weekend is actually not a problem on my unit, and people who do need to call out have no problem making it up. I do go in on my weekends off occasionally, and I get paid time and half for it automatically....so it's not a bad deal, really.

We work every other weekend and although I am new they say that call offs aren't a big problem on the weekends simply because we have to make them up if we miss one, and also because we get paid an extra dollar per hour on the weekends.

Post this on the LTC fourm and I'm sure you will get tons of responses. Staffing is sooooo bad. Yep, we have the call offs on payday. I only work every other weekend and only had to call off once for my Dad's funeral. Normally their is someone hungry for extra shifts so they take them

My evening job we work everyother weekend. They won't call you in on your weekend off. They usually find someone to stay over or come in early to cover the busy times. At my day job we make our own schedules and I don't work the weekend there unless someone is on holiday and they really need me. As far as paydays go, my last job we had one girl who would call in every payday. But the jobs I work now don't have a problem with that.

Every other weekend. If we are asked to work our weekend off we get overtime, even the part timers.
