While i was floated to pedia. the staff nurse and the nursing aid where shouting words inappropriately to each other (more of a clawless cat-fight). they where arguing that the patient didnt get nebulized at the right time because of the nursing aids laziness. By the way the nursing aid is around 30 and hired 4 years ahead of the staff nurse who is 24 and newly hired. They were feisty in their words. And the nursing aid really got hurt because the staff nurse didnt respect her and didnt brought the topic in a very professional manner though the nursing aid's personality is like a huggable cartoon character full of humor and doesnt regularly display seriousness in her job but she didnt deserve to be treated like a useless garbage i was thinking they might doing it because of her character or workethics. But why? I mean really why? It has to end that way? like seriously the staff nurse should have known better not to put herself in that kind of level.... Right now i dont care much they hold grudges to each other and as male nurse i cant undo what they did. But this kind of "social order" or becoming one in the hospital where THAT staff nurse selectively treat the nursing aid as garbage is wrong so wrong. That moment i was like uhmmm OK what just happend?

no need to be rude people! You clearly know what he was trying to say. And i agree with the topic creator, some nurses need to get over there power trip issues! no need to be soo rude to another human being just cause you deem them to be lower than you in the nursing role.

Why would the aide be giving neb treatments? Is this not the nurse's ultimate responsibility? Nothing like blaming someone else for something one was to do to begin with.
If this is an ongoing issue, then you can do an incident report. You could encourage the aide to bring it to the attention of her supervisor. Or you could enlighten the charge nurse.
How horribly uncomfortable for the patient!! Not to mention the other patients who then have to listen to the tense loud verbal exchange.
Or if you are in a position, (or there's a --take care of your own issues first before involving charge nurse or someone else higher on the food chain-- policy) a quiet but effective "ok, ladies, the patients are not ringside at WWF. If I can hear you down the hall, the patients can hear you outside their doors!" This would hold especially true if then YOUR patients were "what was THAT all about" to you.
Thats so true @jadelpn but according to the hospital policy the aid can give neb treatments but thats only treatment they can administer. Their prime task is getting vital signs and bed prep and taking I&O then put it on the charts. And yes it so sad that it has something to do with their personal thing and you cant help about it...It was an eye opener about female nurses. I know I will be hated for this but my conclusion is women has tendencies to be vulnerable to stress. Men also do but they they dont do emotional outburst. Maybe because we think "they are just coworkers" and we dust them off our shoulders.
What i hate most is that the nurse is "like pointing fingers" while shouting to the aid...and the aid just sat there trying to listen until she cant handle it no more

Are you in Acute care? I find it highly unusual that an CNA can give nebs.
I think OP is in Philippines as in the US we call pediatrics. "Pedi" or "peds" but I know Filipinos who refer to the unit as "pedia" and that could explain the policy difference. I think respiratory therapists are unique to the US
Well they have around 47 regular nsg. Staff as a primary hospital and could need some manpower but instead hiring nurses they kinda gave the nsg.aids some additional task

You are not in the US right? Things are very different elsewhere. Unfortunately there are those that are unprofessional in every country....LOL
