Specializes in Trauma/ED.

I got in to it for the money, glamour, and babes of course!

I actually always have been interested in the medical field and started my family sooner than I expected so medical school was out of the question for me, so here I am and I love it.

Nursing is so stable and never gets boring...a great career.

Guess your post got lost in the shuffle. :)

I went into nursing because when I was hospitalized many years ago I was impressed with how the nurses ran the show. The doc came and went in minutes but the nurses took care of business.

The job opportunities, the nice middle income pay, the wide variety of job opportunities, the rewards of making a difference is peoples lives, it all comes into play why I choose nursing and why I stay.

Good luck to you!

probably did get lost in the shuffle, well thats a good reason for going into nursing, i'm pretty sure some people considered it after they or someone they know was hospitalized.

Hi Guys,

Just got word this AM that my neighbor passed all of his finals and will taking the boards in 3 weeks. He is walking on clouds and his smile is so big it is blinding. He has already been offered a job on his preferred unit at his preferred facility. I know he will do well. I laugh now remembering the first time he knocked on my door asking for assistance with his first nursing care plan. I was lost on how to tell him what I considered the first diagnosis, and he was too shy to tell me I was jumping ahead of what was needed, but in the end we worked it out and he has done so well. If just a few of the male nurses coming out today are as committed and caring as he, then nursing is gaining some wonderful new people.

I used to want to be an MD because of MD shows like Doogie Howser, ER, House, etc. Eventually I learned that most of the manly stuff I saw the MD's doing on those shows were actually the things that nurses do.

Specializes in LTC, cardiac, ortho rehab.

all about the babes... all about the babes. chicks dig a guy in a uniform, specially a scrub. also, chicks like it when i talk all medical to them, its kinda an aphrodisiac. =) actually just kidding. even tho girls comment me regarding my scrubs and how it looks hot, i went into nursing cause of financial stability, glory, social interaction, the philosophy, and the fact that everyday i help someone out no matter what their condition is or their age. its a good feeling to feel at the end of a hard day.

I started out in Firefighting/first responder then decided to get my EMT for the firefighting but learned I liked the medical side much better that firefighting so here I am.

I had been a respiratory therapsit for 100 years, then went into nursing worked the ED for 12 years, went back to school now I'm an NP in a cardiology group...

firefighters, emts, nurses, were all into helping people, just in different potentially more, way more dangerous (firefighter) situations. i guess nurses are in danger to- u know, crazy pt's, hospital politics- whatever that means, etc....!
