Yale University Graduate Entry Pre-Specialty in Nursing (GEPN) 2025

Published

Hello,

I don't think there is a thread for Yale GEPN applicants for Fall 2025 start, so here it is! Let's share knowledge and cheer each other on! Also, if there is an existing thread, please let me know.

I want to submit my application soon, but I keep re-reading and editing my essays... Anyone else doing the same thing? I have been out of school for almost 10 years, and I'm getting flashbacks to high school/undergrad days!

Additionally, has anyone sent a transcript via Parchment? My transcript should have been received by Oct 21, but on NursingCAS, it says it hasn't received.

Thanks, and I look forward to communicating with you all!

Hi everyone! I also got accepted for CNM! I am so beyond excited! Congrats to all accepted! And good luck to everybody, I hope it all works out for you!

Congratulations everyone!

I was accepted into the GEPN-PMHNP program. I was wondering if anyone has asked about preceptor locations/frequently used locations. I know other programs have locations listed on their websites but I am having a hard time finding more information for Yale.

I thought the same thing!! I don't remember where I read this but somewhere I read that "Yale likes Wednesdays" and usually send out their admissions decisions on a Wednesday so I thought... maybe we'll hear by 12/18?!?!?
Everyday I check my email thinking... maybe they'll just send out admissions decisions early this year. I'm so tired of waiting for a decision, I feel like I've been waiting forever.

I'm glad we were both wrong and it came out earlier

I am a current GEPN '27 wrapping up my first semester (taking a semester LOA and joining C/O 2028). The hospitals that we rotated at, and not a full list, were Yale New Haven Health--York Street (Central Campus), YNHH-Saint Raphael's, Bridgeport Hospital, Greenwich Hospital, etc. Most likely you will need a car and clinical placements are not determined by student proximity requests, unfortunately. Hope this helps!

Hi everyone! Congrats to all who got accepted :) I'm in for GEPN-CNM!

I'm wondering if anyone would feel comfortable sharing the merit- and need-based aid amounts they received? I have no baseline for what's generous or not and am wondering if there is any room to negotiate my offer. For transparency, I was offered $10K/year merit and $4K/year need-based, totaling $42K over the course of the entire program. This definitely helps but I'm still trying to figure out how I'll pay for the rest. Thank you in advance!

I'm confused... what did y'all fill out to get need-based aid? I thought FAFSA just opened on Dec 1st?

I filled out my FAFSA right after it opened in early December, so I'm guessing they used that information?. It seems like a quick turnaround but in the need-based section of my scholarship letter it says "Annual renewal of this need-based award requires demonstration of continuing need via filing of the FAFSA or other paperwork as requested by YSN."

Hi! I'm planning to negotiate, I only received 2k in merit and 3k in need based so I'm pretty disappointed in that. I'm gonna email them and see if anything can be changed. Does anyone have any advice or has negotiated with financial aid in the past?

Hi all!

I was just admitted to FNP as an RN entry student. Would love to join a Facebook group like the one above for RN-entry too!

I received 9k merit and 3k need based. Also planning on trying to negotiate to make this more affordable, or even see if I can get something in relocation covered. I was honestly surprised my need based was as low as it was. The only reason I haven't officially accepted my offer, but I totally plan on going.

Thanks to everyone for sharing their experiences and offers, I've been lurking and it's been super helpful!

Hi, I haven't filled out my FAFSA yet but they gave me 2k for need based. Most likely because I'm not GEPN. I think everyone should plan to try to negotiate

I received $11k merit based and $5k need based for a total of $16k annually and $48k throughout the whole program. So I'm assuming the rest of the aid will be loans? How does anyone even go about negotiating with them about this? Also, I'm honestly waiting to hear back about the community scholars program before I fully commit! Although I'm 90% sure I will attend Yale (it was my top choice), I just want to make sure I'm making the best financial choice for me.
