  1. Ah I see now, sorry for the confusion! I thought you were a GEPN because of this thread. Ohm108 has much better input for this ? Happy holidays guys!
  2. I would recommend against this. I am a current GEPN student and I decided to go against a lot of my peers' advice, took a part-time research job (10hrs/week, 2 days a week) at Yale's School of Medicine. I was really struggling in my classes and eventually quit my job 3 months in to focus on my studies. My grades improved so much after that as I was able to do a lot more studying, but was also able to allocate more time for self-care and my own emotional well-being. I did the job primarily for financial reasons but it's not worth it IMHO. But some people did per-diem/part-time work and still made it out on time, finances are important, it's just tough. Really make your studies at YSN your top priority, this program will be academically rigorous (but still very manageable, as long as you make your classes/clinicals/labs your main focus). GEPN Fall semester is usually regarded as the toughest term of the program. GEPN Spring and the NP portion (anecdotally***) are not as intense as your first Fall semester. Some students wait till Spring to start working part-time, and quite a few in the NP years work per diem as RNs. This is also not to discourage you from YSN, the preparation that they give you to become an RN and NP is absolutely amazing and YSN graduates are some of the top-performing APRNs in the country. Also, just posting this again: Here is the Facebook group for admitted students! https://www.facebook.com/share/g/1WFtrxK8CF/
  3. I am a current GEPN '27 wrapping up my first semester (taking a semester LOA and joining C/O 2028). The hospitals that we rotated at, and not a full list, were Yale New Haven Health--York Street (Central Campus), YNHH-Saint Raphael's, Bridgeport Hospital, Greenwich Hospital, etc. Most likely you will need a car and clinical placements are not determined by student proximity requests, unfortunately. Hope this helps!
  4. Hi everyone! Congratulations to all those who were admitted! I created a Facebook Group for all of us to join and connect! https://www.facebook.com/share/g/1WFtrxK8CF/ Welcome future Bulldogs!
  5. someone please call and ask if today's the day ? so many deadlines this week/month and it's important cuson tells us when we can at least expect a decision ??
  6. I've been trying to contact admissions, get redirected to a phone that never picks up, and the process repeats...
  7. A week before the priority deadline. Anyone else still waiting to hear back?
  8. I don't know much about the bullying that goes on but just know that there are a lot of career changers in nursing! You're not alone ?
  9. Hi! The FA offices that you've contacted will have the most reliable information. Look into the merit-based scholarships that the schools you're interested in have; some may have a minimum GPA or test score. Good luck!
  10. I'm assuming your ADN would be done at CC so I'd probably stay since it'll be cheaper to complete a BSN at a university. Also, you'd have to notify that BSN program that you already started your ADN and they might not accept you since you're already in one nursing program
  11. Research ABSN program in your state, state schools may be more lenient with your cumulative GPA. If a program requires essays, that could help you! This could also be an opportunity for you to explain your dip in academic performance as well as demonstrate your passion! You can't change your undergrad GPA but you can use writing to still express your compelling narrative. I wish you all the best!
  12. I would also recommend practice assessments. The $80 on ATI may be expensive but there are a few online practice tests that you can find. The mometrix book also comes with 3 practice tests
