  1. You’re definitely not too old to be a nurse, but you are old enough to make an honest assessment of whether or not the field of nursing is for you. I was going to be an older new nurse, around the same age, but for me there were many factors that contributed to my decision to not move forward with it. I won’t list them, but I’ll just say I want to do something that isn’t so rough physically and emotionally. If I were a tougher bird, I would have stuck it out, maybe, but I’m too soft and sensitive for it. Best of luck to you! You will be great!
  2. Thank you! That actually makes me feel a lot better! ?
  3. I have recently become aware that my program will require presentations throughout in order to complete the requirements. I don’t understand why this is necessary, especially for an ADN program. I cannot stand public speaking and thought nursing wouldn’t require that of me. I’ve done it for other degrees, and always hated it, but this just seems like overkill and totally unnecessary. Why??? I wish I had known this before going into the program; that is how much I detest public speaking. It makes me want to cry.
  4. I’m changing careers because I left my job last year and I’ve always wanted to try nursing, at least it has been on my mind for the last 15 years. I’m starting school next month. The one thing I’m afraid of is being bullied by other nurses. I keep reading that it happens with frequency, so I am worried about how I will be treated in the work environment.
