I've never posted here before but I am going to be applying to Yale School of Nursing this fall for a 2015 start in the GEPN program, CNM/WHNP cohort. Wondering if there are others out there preparing to do the same? I'm heading down to their info session next week.
If/when other people receive their financial aid, I'd love to compare (via PM) if it's not too personal to share.
for the specialty rankings, you kind of have to click around. I would click on the actual link for the school and scroll down to the specialties where it is ranked. The rankings only go up to #10.
I am fine comparing financial aid. I can't send a PM once I receive it, since I haven't posted enough yet.
Thanks NPhopeful88 that makes sense.
Rebeccas23, have you heard from Yale regarding a CNM/WHNP interview? I am hoping to hear something soon, but no word yet!
Hi Carolina, I have heard back and was offered an interview, but it sounds like they're offering interviews as they review applications, not sending them all out at once. I wouldn't worry just yet. I was pretty discouraged the first week of March when I didn't get an offer, but it sounds like they're still sending them out (the snow slowed them down too). Let me know when you hear! Excited to have touched base with another applicant. :)
I haven't accepted yet, but I'm going to. I wanted to know what kind of financial aid I was being offered and I needed to get the $600 deposit together. There was discussion about making a Facebook group, but no one was sure about whether or not the admissions office would make an "official" group.

It looks like US News & World Report changed their methodology for ranking graduate programs this year. In the past, these rankings have been based largely on peer assessment. This year, they've taken into account additional factors including enrollment, student expenses, number of grants received by the NIH, etc. I think these methodology changes are the cause of Yale's drop in rank, rather than a drop in quality of the program.
All of the programs you're considering are great schools; I don't know if I would spend too much time focusing on these rankings. I also question the validity of some of the rankings. For example, Johns Hopkins does not offer a formal Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner program (They do offer an online certificate program that prepares FNPs to be dually certified as a PMHNP). However, Johns Hopkins is ranked as the #8 Psych NP program.
