Yale 2015

Published

I've never posted here before but I am going to be applying to Yale School of Nursing this fall for a 2015 start in the GEPN program, CNM/WHNP cohort. Wondering if there are others out there preparing to do the same? I'm heading down to their info session next week.

I got to meet her at the info session. She's all the things we mentioned ×1000. She was so happy and upbeat and just wanted to give us every piece of information she could give in 2 hours. She's really great. I second that cup of coffee haha!

I agree with the MP references. And, knowing MP's education was in religious studies, as posted at the Yale website, I smiled when I read her message today and her humor. I think she has a lot of great qualities as a person and I would love to meet her. If I did attend Yale I would probably buy her a cup of coffee (when it did not feel like a bribe so much to me ha-ha) as a thank you for making this whole admissions process seem easier from the monthly updates. Peaceful week to us all

I agree - maybe the whole incoming class could consider a group gift - lifetime Starbucks? :-P

I agree about MP's e-mails! I can't believe she actually referenced sound of music. Maybe she wrote these e-mails a while ago and just copies and paste, who knows but they still make me feel better and seem thoughtful! :)

Hi All--I too, am in the process of applying to YSN. Any other RNs applying to the MSN program? I just submitted my application today (mine isn't due until February 1st)--now the waiting game begins! I've been working at Yale for 3 years now and currently live in New Haven. Don't be discouraged by the city, it's a really great place with plenty to do. As for the weather: it's definitely cold here--a down jacket and good pair of boots are your best friend during the winter months. I suppose if I'm accepted, I won't be starting with any of you as I will jump right into the second year. Please let me know if anyone has questions about New Haven! Good luck to everyone finding out about interviews in the coming weeks.

I was just reading last year's thread (because I'm obsessive) and they released interview decisions the Friday before they were originally anticipated. If that's the same case for this year it means this Friday! Now I'm even more anxious! Why do I read the old threads? Lol

Oh no! ^_^ I should check out the old thread. I'd be quite surprised if they come out on Friday based on the email we received, but you never know. I'm going to need time to prepare myself to find out, and sit in a quiet place - I'm likely to freak out completely if I get an interview :)

In a way I'm hoping they surprise us with decisions on Friday, but then again I need more time to come to terms with all of this anxiety lol.

I've been doing the exact same thing. Yesterday I spent an ungodly amount of time trying to figure out approximately how many people are generally admitted, and about how many slots there are for each specialty. Answer: 70-80/yr from previous threads, and about 10-20 per program depending on popularity of the specialty. And now, of course, I just checked the year before that and saw that the decisions were posted maybe late late the day before or very early on the day of (before an email was sent out announcing decision time). Hopefully we all get very very good news before the weekend :cat:

70-80 is only how many matriculate. There's actually a better chance of getting accepted than that! We were told at the info session that 120-125 are accepted, but from there only about 80 matriculate.

I stalked the threads before/after the info session and tried to match things up lol. The threads have definitely been super helpful.

I'm hoping we get good news before the weekend also. I have some studying to do for finals, so I'm hoping to get good news to ease my incrdibly stressed mind. Haha

Haha I feel like it's better to occupy myself with other things while waiting! I don't want to obsess over admissions and worry too much. Yeah, I do wish they would make it clear how many people they admit and for each specialty too but I guess it can depend on each year and how many people apply and the amount of people who they think will actually accept.

Only a few days to go!! Good luck everyone, whatever happens :-)
