Hello everyone! This thread is for folks applying to Yale's GEPN program for the fall 2023 start.
Feel free to introduce yourself, ask questions and offer guidance and support to other candidates. Please be respectful and kind and remember that this is a long, exhausting, expensive, stressful journey for lots of people. Let's do our best to uplift and help each other. Good luck!
The only email they've sent (that I've recieved) is the Admitted one with just general info about next steps and how to proceed and what information they will be released in the future, including the official invitation for admitted students day. I got it yesterday afternoon, maybe check your spam ?? IDK why you didn't get it though, I'm sorry!
Are you RN-MSN?? I'm GEPN so that may be why you haven't recieved the email!

I'm a current FNP GEPN. Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions in these next few (exciting) weeks!
Any suggestions on where to live near the campus? How is the MSN schedule looks like? Thank you!!
I'm not super sure about the specifics of the MSN schedule but could speak to the GEPN schedule. The nursing school campus is on Yale's west campus adjacent to New Haven (technically in Orange CT)
MOST students find housing in New Haven closer to main campus and either drive, carpool or take the free Yale shuttle. The benefit to being on the West Campus (in my opinion) is that it's right off the turnpike and has dedicated free, security monitored parking.
A lot of students live in East Rock neighborhoods- some do and some don't drive.
I hope that helps!
They should also have some info and tips on living etc during admitted students day :)

Hi!!
What is your first-year life like? I heard that it is very intense. Do you have any free time on weekends ( like time to travel to BOS or NYC)? Thank you in advance!
Hey! I think it really depends on your other commitments and study habits. For me (someone without kiddos or work during the first semester) I felt like I could go and enjoy a weekend away until mid September when things started to get moving. During the first semester I was definitely studying every day and weekends were good for maybe an outing for a few hours but mostly that was a good chunk of study time for me.
Spring semester is definitely lighter and more balanced.
Some students have weekend clinical placements so that may be a consideration too ?

my school offers anatomy and phys as separate courses and only anatomy had a lab. so I'm assuming I'll have to retake it. I also took animal physiology WITH a lab so I'm not sure what will count LOL!
