There didn't seem to be a main thread for applicants to Yale's GEPN program this year, so I thought I'd get one started. I'm applying for the midwifery specialty and am currently working on my application essays, having done everything else.
Is anyone else really struggling with the main essay? I've finished my apps to two other programs and was happy with how those essays came out, but Yale's essay guidelines as so restrictive that I feel like my essay is turning out all disjointed. The fact that we have to answer every aspect of every question in *exactly the order they list* (this is apparently something that you need to take very seriously) means that I'm having to tie myself in knots. I want it to be not only informative about me as an applicant but also a good piece of writing - and I feel like the essay format is making this kind of difficult.
Anyone else out there applying?
Hello, everyone! I am happy to see that the site is back up, but concerned about all of the posts made after December 15th, which seem to have been deleted. I have described the problem on the Reporting a Bug thread, and will post here again as soon as I receive a response.
we are back!! I thought that the site had crashed for good. I'm so relieved - as I really enjoy and NEED this outlet!! thanks category x for reporting the bug - we definatley are missing several posts. hope everyone had a great holiday.less than a month until intervews!! anyone decide what you're wearing yet?
Another member has asked about missing posts, and this was the response s/he received from the site's staff:
During the upgrade, we lost some threads/posts.Please re-post and we are sorry for the frustrations.
So, unfortunately, it looks like we will not be able to recover our lost pages. If any of you (especially Pam, who was so helpful) happen to have copies of your previous comments, would you please post them again?
that's too bad for next years applicants who will be like us an scour through the previous years posts for hope and answers! maybe I'll take the time later to write out little facts we have learned, I.e. we received interview invites on jan 17th via email in no order that we can really tell - but maybe alphabetical by specialty. first one reported was received about 8am. etc. etc. etc.thanks for looking into this "x".

I just got it, as well. Doula Kerry, thank you so much for posting the information. It's good to know that Friday is the big day, and we can relax a bit before then.
