I declined my offer of admission to the midwifery specialty this week. I hope that will mean good news for someone else here!

Chula5008, the YSN students are on spring break right now, so we might not be hearing from any of them for a few more days. When I first read over my acceptance letter, I saw the March 23rd date and assumed that there would be some online mechanism for responding to the offer up until that Friday, but then I realized that our responses have to be mailed. It was a smaller decision-making window than I thought we would have. How are all of you doing? Is anyone doing any last-minute research or soul-searching this week (I am), or have most of you made up your minds?

My financial aid information came via email about half an hour ago, steelypop. I was also offered a small (@15K) scholarship.

I just received notification that I'm in for CNM. Thought it was a mistake—was expecting news tomorrow—but it looks like it's for real.

After so many years of wondering and planning, it feels strange to finally say to myself, "Tomorrow is the day." I'll be thinking of all of you tonight!

This is an outstanding coping strategy.

All right, that email from Admissions (confirming the March 1st notification date) just sent my nerves into overdrive.

I know, christymel. I'm actually grateful that tomorrow is the start of the work week, because it will provide some distraction.

My thoughts are going out to all of the applicants who are interviewing today and tomorrow. Good luck! simplekategirl is right: The interviewers will have everyone's information in a folder. I was also wondering whether to bring copies of my resume and essay, but decided against it, and it turned out to be unnecessary.

Chiming in to agree with those who say not to worry about whether or not you're wearing a suit. On my interview day, one applicant was rocking peacock feather earrings—I think it's perfectly fine to show some personal style, if that is what makes you feel confident.

laflaca, in answer to your previous question about travel: My interview is on January 19th, and I will be in New Haven from the 17th to the 21st. CBlack37, congratulations on your interview! That is a crazy story. I have searched previous threads for midwifery admissions statistics, and apparently the school interviewed 46 people for 13 spots in 2011. I am not sure what the yield rate is, or how many people are ultimately accepted from the waiting list. Does anyone else have more information? sirgalahad, I am staying downtown, as well, and would love to meet up. I have a list of pizza parlors that I am excited about trying out, so that's always a possibility. simplekategirl, I will probably be dressed like you, in gray trousers and some sort of sweater or top. Ideally, I would go out and buy myself a suit, but the interview trip itself is a major financial sacrifice for me, so I am going to try to make due with what I currently have in my closet. Past threads indicate that, although there will be many applicants in suits, others wear business casual. Here, for example, is a comment from a 2011 applicant: I wore a suit, as did a majority of the people there. But both of the men I saw wore dress pants, sweater and a tie and a lot of the women wore dresses, or nice pants outfits. I got the impression that a suit wasn't going to make or break the interview. None of the interviewers I saw were dressed that formally. Bottom line - dress nice, I probably would have worn a nice top and dress pants if I were to do it again! And here is another one from the 2010 thread: I would say wear whatever you are most comfortable in. I wore a suit one year and a sweater and pants the next, felt much more comfortable without the suit. I think either would be fine but the main thing is to feel comfortable...so wear what you like! The rest will fall into place, at the end of the day they wont remember what you wore but how you interacted with them!

simplekategirl, that's a good idea. Here's my contribution: I received an interview invitation for CNM early in the 9:00 hour (EST) on Friday, December 16th. I was expecting to be in suspense all day, so it was a relief to see everything going out so early. If I remember correctly, other applicants received their invitations even earlier than I did, in the 8:00 hour. I believe that the bulk of the invitations, if not all, were sent out by lunchtime.
