Yale GEPN Applicants 2011

Published

It didn't look like there was a thread for 2011 Yale GEPN applicants. Since the application recently opened, I thought I'd start a thread to see if anyone else is starting to work on their application.

Anyone else out there?

Congratulations and happy birthday amalay! See you in the fall!

Nikki don't lose hope yet!! Crossing my fingers for you!!

Tanya- can't wait to meet you! Congrats on your acceptance! We will have to compare notes tomorrow!!!

Not 100% sure where I am going yet. It is either Yale or Columbia. I'll learn more about Columbia at the accepted applicants day tomorrow.

thanks.. i have a feeling all calls were made though.

Congratulations everyone. I am in for midwifery. Does Yale do an accepted applicants day? I didn't go out for the interview and would love to learn more about the school.

I can't wait for next year!! Congrats to everyone!

I don't think they do an accepted students day...I am sure if you asked admissions they would set something up that would allow you to look around the school and learn more about it!

Right now I work right next door to the nursing school in New Haven so if you want someone to show you around the area too, let me know! haha

I know that people have told me the area around new haven can be pretty dangerous...any suggestions of where to look for an apt?

Specializes in Future CNM.

At the interview day, a lot of students suggested east rock and wooster square as places to look.

Yeah definitely East Rock is a safe area of New Haven. My dad knows some good real estate people in New Haven that are going to help me look. If you want any help or anything...let me know!

I'm also in for midwifery! IS that three of the twelve midwifery students on this board? Got the financial aid material, too. Do most people max out GradPLUS loans to cover living expenses? The financial aid package from the school in my case doesn't even cover tuition, so I definitely would need some GradPLUS supplement...

What are you all doing for the photo requirement...cutting a picture of you or getting some wallets made (I think snapfish does the size they are requesting)? I was going to send in two of the same photo...my husband seems to think they want two different pics...thoughts?

Thanks everyone for making this one of the best birthdays with me! You're all wonderful and I look forward to meeting you all in the Fall! Time to start researching living areas, etc etc!

Lot's of students live in what's called "East Rock" neighborhood. It is common in New Haven to have good and bad areas that overlap, so research rentals well.

Can't wait to meet my new cohort in the fall! If anyone moves out early, we'll have to get together before the madness begins!!!

I have no idea how I'm going to decide between Yale and Columbia......

sgmaygeorge were you at Columbia's day???
