Yale GEPN Applicants 2011

Published

It didn't look like there was a thread for 2011 Yale GEPN applicants. Since the application recently opened, I thought I'd start a thread to see if anyone else is starting to work on their application.

Anyone else out there?

i'm flying from SFO, and a friend suggested flying direct to NY and taking a train to New Haven. What do you guys think?

To dorshee:

I'm doing a phone interview! I hope that this doesn't take away from me as an applicant for not being able to go out there, but the semester would have already started for me by then. A night class and afternoon lab made it impossible for me to be able to fly there and come back in time.

My boyfriend just suggested I do this as well (though I am coming from LAX). Would like to know what the locals think...

Chatille,

It's super easy to make that commute, at least I think it is. You can take the shuttel to GCT (Grand Central) and pick up a train to New Haven almost any hr. I hope this help, congrats btw. If I get an interview (and right now that's a BIG if) I might be able to help someone out with a place to stay that week as I have an apartment that is presently being subleted that I can return to any time. If any of you are interested email me, although as I said I have to actually get an interview in order to be in CT at that time. Right now I'm in TX doing missions work at a birth center.

Okay...if I'm already checking my email at 6:00am (as if someone would come to work in the middle of the night to send emails), I can see this being a long day of "refreshing." If anyone has the guts to call and see if they are still sending emails today, it might save my sanity :uhoh3:.

Just spoke with admissions, they were all sent.

Me too. :-( I'm trying not to cry. Ugh and o even told myself every day for two months not to get my hopes up! Does anyone know of any programs whose application deadline hasn't passed?

@kah- The University of Connecticut has rolling admissions. They do admissions reviews 3 times/year (January, June, September, I think). There are prereqs for their program, though... Check their website for the details.

Really? ugh...bummer. Back to square one.:crying2:

Hi Tanya & Williams,

Another psych applicant here...Got an interview email today! I actually live here in New Haven (hubbie is working on phd at Yale). We should definitely get together when you are in town. My interview is actually on Jan. 11th, but that may be just because I'm local??? If you need any travel questions answered, I'm happy to help - that goes for anyone else too. Good luck everyone!!!

Hi wnabanrs! Congrats! I live in NYC so I am just going to take a train out on the 19th, and I asked to stay overnight with a current psych student if possible, Esposito said she'll try to arrange for it. I'd love to meet up when I'm there -- Interview on the 20th so my it's after yours, but if you live in New Haven and want to meet up, I am game! :):)

I guess now to the next school. But its still odd to me being that I have seen no one get an Oncology interview. Weird.

Same here...I called admissions and she wouldn't tell me over the phone...just said I would get a letter if not an email. She said she couldn't tell me over the phone whether the letter would be an acceptance or rejection. I'm sure its doubtful, but did anyone talk to them and find out if the letters are for sure rejections?
