Worth it or not Smartphone

This past April, I was able to upgrade my cell phone, however, I thought I would wait to see if I were to be accepted into NS or not. In the mean time, I emailed a facebook friend whom has just completed her first year of NS and asked if the school allows the use smart phones for their apps. I was told that one prof. doesn't mind them, but if another prof. so much as even sees the phone, your in trouble. This week I received my acceptance letter! :nurse: So I guess I am wondering for those of you that have them and use the apps, is it still worth me upgrading mine even though the school prohibits them? Will it help when I am studying on my own and things like that?

So which smartphone would be better for nursing school?:nurse:

I love my iphone and use it constantly in practice. Micromedex, epocrates, skyscape all have their usefulness. I set my work schedule in the ical. I have it for my break when I want to escape and listen to some music, I can surf the web a bit on wikipedia if I have a question.....I love my iphone and will never not have it with me......it's also a must because I have a son that I want to always check up on at night.

Specializes in Emergency/Cath Lab.
Shuddup. I'm sad enough as it is lol.

Ha ha tell me about it. Im going to call this conference a waste. While the new iOS shows promise (revised notification panel FINALLY! ) not much new products to blow you away.

Specializes in Operating Room.

I love my smart phone, but I wouldn't say its helpful for nursing. I have some nursing apps but I hardly use them while I'm in school. I'm too busy studying my books and notes. If you are on a budget, I would suggest a wifi capable phone instead of paying $20-$30 monthly for internet.

Specializes in Emergency Dept. Trauma. Pediatrics.

Looks like I will be waiting to upgrade my phone unless I cave and get the iphone
