The 'politics' and the brown nosers...blah :/

Specializes in LTC, assisted living, med-surg, psych.

In two words: "Customer Service"

Specializes in Rehab, Med Surg, Home Care.

What makes me crazy is how clueless our patients (as well as the public in general) are about just exactly it is that nurses do.

Specializes in ER.

Having to be in two or three places at the same time, and knowing if you aren't someone could die...and then getting disciplined for inadequate paperwork, (even though the patient got excellent care you didn't write it down correctly !)

I would say being repsonsible for the work and actions of others (UAPs), lack of respect from employers, and docs, the general bad treatment of nurses, and the OVERWHELMING amount of work that we are all expected to do, and do perfectly, every day.

doctors insulting you in front of pt and co workers

other nurses belitttling you to others while you can hear them

backstabbing between every shift

having to put in 15 years before you aren't considered GREEN anymore

having all the other units in the hosp. hate you and be rude because they think you have it better

having an on call doc whine about coming in or better yet, try to make you sit on a patient that you know needs to be seen, until 7am

Specializes in critical care; community health; psych.

As far as being a student nurse, learning to fly under the radar is difficult for me. And the holier than thou back-biting students that will be holier than thou back-biting nurses.
