As far as being a student nurse, learning to fly under the radar is difficult for me. And the holier than thou back-biting students that will be holier than thou back-biting nurses.

i think it all depends on what floor or area your working in. for a few months, i was training in a nursing home. i grew to like alot of the patients there and had a few close relationships with them. but unfortunalty, some of the had passed away. it was the hardest thing i ever went through becuase i felt close to some of them and now there gone. since then, i have learned that sometimes you cant have a 'relationship' with the patients, even in long term care.:uhoh21:

AMEN to that!!!!

I took care of 'customers' when I worked in a bank.

In two words: "Customer Service"

Too much paperwork! :crying2:

the part i hate about floor nursing is the patients that take advantage of my time.... my floor gets alot of drug seekers and CIWA. I get so caught up answering call lights with pts saying "is it time yet for my next morphine shot" while thier happily laying, sipping thier soda and watching jerry springer, to actually have time to do what i came into this profession for, taking care of people who are sick and need my help.

one other part i hate, the on going always expanding mandatory documentation. every morning in briefing our manager introduces a new "great form that will help with patient safety". Not only do we have to document everytime we say hello to the patient, but now were required to fill out a form EVERY HOUR mentioning that we went into every patients room and said hi and offered them a drink, toileting, or a pillow fluff! i am so busy documenting i dont have time for patient care!

the worst part of being a nurse is...... being a nurse! lololololol
