Thank you for picking the perfect Garth Brooks song for these times!
Mississippi John Hurt first recorded this in 1928. He could have attempted a music career, buy decided to keep his job in Avalon Misissippi. He had the music career years later after he had Social Security. My Grandma came with me to hear him because my friends only liked Rock Music. He didn't sign autographs, but shook hands with fans. Grandma said he was probably illiterate.
This song is about his happy life with his wife. My favorite stanza is
"Got a house in the country, t a garden out back
Blues on the Victrola. What do you think of that?"
In 1983 after John Hurt and our Grandma had died I heard wonderful Doc Watson sang this song by Tom Paxton and Dave Von Ronk. When he sings, "Did you shake his hand?" I tear up. When I told my cousin he said, "You know she didn't go with you because she liked that music? She went because she loved you." "I know, I said to him."

Here’s an old favorite of mine, one of my cheer me up tunes.
And howsabout some dead.
OMG I can't believe I spelled Country Contry - the Nuns at my primary school would be hitting me with a ruler.
