Will work cna for food

So I'm taking CNA classes starting in March, and as long as everything goes well should finish in May. I'm relocating back home to Charlotte, NC after I'm done with classes. My question to you is...What are my chances of getting hired in a Hospital setting and making atleat $11/hr before shift diff. and weekend prem.?

Your chances are probably a lot better after you eat some dirt (I mean gain some experience) in a nursing home.

Chances are bleak to none, I live in NJ which has one of the highest standards of living in the country and a CNA fresh out of the program makes 10.50 an hour at most. However, if you work Per Diem you might be able to make a few dollars more but no benefits whatsoever.

It is generally easier to get a job in a long term care facility than in a hospital. Hospitals have the ability to pick and choose among the best candidates because everyone wants to work in a hospital. LTC facilities are a little less choosy in who they hire, more inclined to hire anyone who has their certificate.

slim to none!! hahaha I was a CNA for four years in a level 1 trauma/neuro icu and had to go through extensive training that the hospital provided (which has helped me allot when I became a LPN) and with night shift differential I made 11.20... This was after 4 years of being a CNA and going for the extra training to do a cool job though, I started out at 8.75.

My weekend diff was 1 buck. But still though it took me 4 years to reach 11 bucks..

when i started out as a CNA in '92, i made $3.35/hour. after 4yrs i worked my way up to a whole $5/hr!

I have been a PCT for 2 years now in a hospital. I am in nursing school, but do not hold a CNA license. I started out at $12 something an hour and am now up to $14 an hour, not including shift differential.

I work as a CNA just outside of Charlotte. I started in July at $8.65/hr in LTC. Most of the CNA jobs around here are in this range, some maybe as high as $9.50/hr. I have heard rumors of $10/hr. I don't think $11/hr is going to happen, but maybe you'll get lucky! If you do, let me know where so I can come work there. :p

Where in NJ do you work because I work in northern NJ part-time at a hospital and make $14 an hour. Working here 3 months and had no prior experience. I am also in nursing school.

that stinks...in florida i work in a hospital. i make 12.75 with 1.50 shift diff plus another weekend shift diff of .75. thats after 2 1/2 years.

I know one hospital system paying $14/h for cna's in Charlotte but absolutely no benefits. That is the best you will even dream of coming to the Charlotte area with no experience. Even so, after $14/h you are starting to get into LPN range so pretty much bets are off after that. Unless you have an NA 2 license, get ready for about 8-9 dollar range. And CNA jobs are a dime a dozen there so most places wont feel obligated to give you much more than that. But good luck hunting.
