I been hearing this debate off and on for a long time about how if Obama gets universal healthcare to go ( if he gets elected of course)though in the US that nursing pay will be cut dramatically. I would think this has to do with the fact that we would all be working for the government and that there will no longer be competition. There are many people in my nursing class that said they will leave nursing if thats the case. I also talked to several doctors that said the same thing about medicine in general. Im just curious if anyone has some good info about this. Thanks
"Now I do believe that most of the people on WELFARE are making a choice to be on welfare. They have other options but it's easier to sit at home and get a paycheck than to work for one. They've learned the loopholes and use them to their advantage. ""If you choose to work a job that doesn't provide insurance then that is a choice you make. I think MOST people who don't have insurance it's because they haven't made it a priority".quote]
Yes, they are getting rich on the $ 672.00/mo. that they collect on welfare.
A lot of people can't even find jobs, and therefore, don't have the "luxury" of choosing between one that offers insurance and one that doesn't; if they are fortunate enough to be offered a job at all. If they are able to Have enough left over from their paycheck, after paying for rent, heat, electricity, food, clothes for their kids, child care so they can work, and transportation to and from work, I'm sure they would be more than happy to pay for health insurance. (Is that what you mean when you say that they "haven't made it a priority"?)
Do you work for free?
I would just like to say "GOOD RIDDANCE!" If you became a nurse to be rich and not to help the ill then get out now, those nurses and physicians are the reason bed side manner is so bad now. Yes, our pay might decrease but healthcare for the sick and uninsured will be better. We are the only country that does not take responsibility for our neighbors. How many patients do we see in a day that have multiple problems that have gotten worse because they did not have healthcare. I say to nurse/physicians who are worried about the amount of money they are going to be making- PICK A NEW CAREER!!!!!! Those of us who are here to actually help heal the sick and weak-- DON'T NEED YOU!!! This is just my opinion but it hurts my heart when we live in a place that would rather watch people suffer then stand up for those who are less fortunate than us.:prdnrs:
This kind of pabulum is always spewed by people who are there every 1st and 15th to gobble up that $30-$40 an hour salary. If you're into nursing to be a saint, why aren't you doing it for charity?

Would you agree to refusing to allow people like your brother (and mine, who sounds just like yours) to receive any government sanctioned assistance?
Nods, when it comes down to it, I have my own insurance, my own disability, and take care of all my other issues.I can see CRNA's argument. My brother is one of those slacker, leech, junkie types. It irks me to no end.
However, there are people out there that are not able to get the things they need. Sometimes it's due to financial reasons or mental reasons or something else. They DO need help. It doesn't have to be 'social' medicine BUT the current system needs to at least get a major upgrade...
Welfare, in the state of MT, it is easier to be on welfare than not, free medical, vision, dental, foodstamps and even education. I can see why people are on welfare. It is just to easy and the working class pays for it. As far as preventive medicine, what a joke, you go in for something preventive and it is declined by insurance. Why? It is an unnecessary procedure. So we wait until it is bad enough to be considered an emergency. It is a no win situation.
Sometimes you have to move to a more productive area. The days of great paying manufacturing jobs in this country are gone, no matter who the President is. I commend you for working two jobs to make ends meet. You are doing a lot more than most people would in similar circumstances. The good job will come when your fiance finishes RT school and perhaps at that point you can go to school and learn a valuable trade that will provide a more comfortable lifestyle. Your only limit to your potential in life is your motivation to succeed.
I think that this is a great idea. I currently work 2 jobs to send my fiancee to school for resp therapy. He works two part time jobs because there are no full time jobs for someone who has experience with factories and security jobs. Thank God we do not have kids-I do not know what we would do. I am just wondering where all these jobs to support a family would come from. At least here they are certainly not plentiful.
According to Obama if she is raped she can have an abortion, even after giving birth. Of coure the left always loves to live in "What if" land.

That is an Opinion/Editorial.. Heck, in those I could say McCain and GW are homosexuals, and post a picture opf them hugging.
My daughter got pregnant (twice!), unmarried, in her early 20s. The sperm donor (now her husband) makes about $8.50/hr as an assistant manager at Subway Sandwich shop. They live on his salary, and have not qualified for any welfare. His job, as crappy as it is, provides cheap healthcare coverage for his kids. They don't live extravagantly, however. They get by.
There are times when my wife and I have to lend a financial hand, but that's our job as parents and grandparents. I wouldn't want to have to semi-support your kids, though.
"shouldn't have sex" isn't the only way to prevent pregnancy. And despite what Maslow said, people aren't animals with some uncontrollable need to jump in the sack and screw. Well, most people aren't.
A rubber costs 75 cents, and pills (etc) are free at the health clinic.
May we all pray that some day this is not your daughter we are talking about because then where will you be!! People make mistakes and even the best birth control fails. And before you say "she shouldn't be having sex" Pay attention in class and go back to your Maslow heirarchy of needs.
Thanks for the reply, but I have a bachelors degree and am a nurse! I can't go back for CRNA because we can't be in school at the same time. It is just hard here, because there are very few jobs (besides nursing) with job openings. Thank God I finished, because we were the "working poor" when I was in school working two jobs to get thru (pharmacy and extern-which are pretty well paying non-degree jobs). We didn't have a phone, only one car, and parents who couldn't help. I also lived with 7 people in a three bedroom house. Even now we both have single moms with no insurance at their crappy jobs and no retirement-so we'll probably end up supporting both of them in their old age.
P.S. I know this is not popular, but I sometimes feel as though we are punished for making good decisions. i.e. in school neither he nor I qualify for assistance because even then we made "too much" I didn't qualify for low income apartments-and the lady told me flat out it was because I was young, single, and had no kids (it is assumed your parents will help.) So because I didn't have kids in high school, and went straight from high school to college, I was ineligible.

But Obama does support partial birth abortions. Sickening.
