I have always wondered why RN's need to display their title on their license plate? I have never seen a teacher, lawyer, accountant, librarian, coach, housekeeper, CNA/PCT, chef, mayor etc....... put this on their license plate. Seriously, I don't understand it. I usually see at least 2 a day. Is this just in my area or does this happen everywhere. I would like to know what it is about RN's that feel the need to announce it to everyone what they do? I understand we have all worked hard for our license but come on these other professions have worked just as hard if not more. I know there are more important things going on in the world but I just want some opinions on this.
I've seen plates with acronyms related to nursing, medicine, radiography, vet medicine, teaching, cosmetology, accountancy, and probably lots more. If you work at a hospital, and other nurses' cars are the ones you see and park next to every day, it just might be possible that you're more aware of those than others you may pass on the road.
I don't mind RN plates. I wouldn't have one, because I don't necessarily want the general public knowing I'm a nurse. I do see one around town that drives me absolulely bonkers, though. Some Sorority Susie has "DeltaDeltaRN" on her tag (okay, she's not a tri delt, but for the sake of discretion I'll not put the actual sorority). It makes my eyes roll so hard I'm afraid they're going to land in the floor of my car. Darling, if you're an RN now, then the sorority days are loooooonnnnggg over. No one cares who you rushed with when you're wiping their butt.
I'm with the people who don't want to advertise. I'm only going to be a nurse while I'm on the clock, not off. I do understand why people get those plates, but I think it just opens you up to unwelcome attention.
I don't put any relgious, political bumper stickers or otherwise on my car for the same reason.
My favorite by the way is a psychiatrist at our hospital that drives a rusty early model camry with the plates "RUNVS"
I'm graduating in 2 weeks and I got a vanity plate (Pennsylvania does not have a nurses specific plate), so my new license plate reads "ARR ENN"...I'm proud of it - I'm 39, and managed nursing school with a set of school age twins and a husband and household to run...it was either a vanity plate or a tattoo. The plate was cheaper (and less painful LOL)...
A tattoo might have been cheaper in the long run since you have to renew the vanity plate every year!
I only did a bumper sticker once - "Honk if you like streaking".I don't put any relgious, political bumper stickers or otherwise on my car for the same reason. My favorite by the way is a psychiatrist at our hospital that drives a rusty early model camry with the plates "RUNVS"
Showing my age!!!
If a nurse feels to display her/his RN/NP title on her license plate and feel happy about it it should not be annoying to anyone. we are all different and some nurses like to do that and others do not which is OK. I can't speak to other professions , don't see what's wrong about it. I was searching for license plate for NP. I just graduate as PHMNP and feel really good and want get it on my plate . Came across this comment & felt compelled to respond .If you don't like it for you it's OK and if other nurses do it's OK too. Are they braking the rule? .. as a matter of fact the cops love to see that too 😊
Love you too
and also a generalized comment like "nurses" it's not fair. nurses are all over the universe and what happens where you are may be different from where I am so I think it depends what the sticker says, if its just RN or NP it' should be OK and not be a bother anyone right? if its moving away to advertise something else then yes that cold be annoying I think? I have friends who are MDs and they use on their MD plate because the police don't bother them . so it all depends.
