OK....the wait is killing me:uhoh3: So I thought I would start a thread to see just how many people are waiting like me. If you have heard anything like when we might hear something let us know.
What hospital will train you for a Scrub position in the OR. I looked into it at one time and was told you had to have a certificate.
I have GOT to find a job while I am in Nursing School. I must resign my current position due to the travel requirements. I can afford a HUGE pay cut. I have applied for Unit Secretary Positions at St. Vincents and UAB both with either a "no thank you" or no response at all.
DOES ANYONE KNOW the trick to a job with area hospitals. I have a Bachelors degree.
I am just so excited and scrubbing is a way I can start learning about the OR. I understand there is alot more and many different roles but a scrub is a position that the hospital will train you to do while you are in school and I was hoping that I would learn by observing while I was there. What hospital did you do your clinicals at? By the way, I keep reading about the HESI...does Jeff State use it??
The scrub nurse is not a RN just a tech. Any hospital should train you to do it. The role of the RN in the OR is paperwork mostly. There is safety issues the RN deals with but the one that helps the Dr give instruments is a scrub nurse which is a tech, usually. you will have one day to observe in the OR either at Brookwood or Trinity. We do our clinicals at Brookwood, Trinity, Princeton, UAB, and Children's through the program.
Jeff State takes the ERI every semester except 3rd. Its like the HESI I believe. Look up ERI's webpage. I belive its eriworld.com
Once you have completed your first semster in nursing school you can get a job at the hospitals alot easier and making good pay. During the first semester the HR lady from Brookwood comes to talk to the class about working and pay. Honestly working alot is where people get intouble with not passing, especially 2nd semester!! Just an FYI.
I'm in the same position - leaving at the end of this week & I can't stand the thought of that letter sitting in my box & my not knowing! I emailed TL & told her I would be out of town & was there a time I could call & find out if I'm in or not. That was yesterday morning & I haven't heard back from her yet. I'll let you know what she tells me once she replies. Here's to hoping letters go out tomorrow & we receive them on Thursday!!!!!:)
hills - i've thought the same thing about having my mail checked once i leave but like you i can't stand the thought of someone reading a rejection letter to me. tl still hasn't responded to my question about if they will tell us over the phone once letters have gone out.
i emailed advising this am for an update & received this response:
the dean and the nursing department current have the applications and are making a final decision on what the final cut line will be. hopefully the letters will go out by the end of june
so basically the same thing as before. i'm hoping they are just not releasing any details until they can say, "letters have been mailed." i really thought letters would go out today but now i'm thinking their goal is june 30 so they'll probably go out 1st or 2nd of july.
uuugggghhhhh!!!!! i have so many decisions hinging on if i get in or not & i'm ready to finialize those.
Fall Schedules are up. You can go to Jeff State's webpage to see it. Its on the mainpage. This will at least tell you when you will be in class. You wont get your clinical times till later but you will have your classes. Thought this may help some people.
I know its frustrating waiting on the letters to go out. I was right there with yall last year. I did not get mine till mid July. It wont be much longer.
