Parade.com published an article today in honor of National Nurses Week. To celebrate the occasion, they posted a poll to find out who America thinks is the best fictional nurse on television.

allnurses was also featured in the article as a place where "real nurses" network.

And if you'd like to pay tribute to some real-life nurses this week, head over to allnurses.com, a networking site for RNs and nursing students. There, you can write a thank you message and the site will share it with its users.

The last portion refers to our new ThankANurse site, which was launched on Nurses Day 2014.

I always liked the "non main character" nurses on ER, although I was partial to Malik because he was an LPN :-) I always wished they would've went into their story lines a little more.

My vote goes to Nurse Chapel -- she got to be a nurse AND go on away missions to new planets!

I agree! I loved the non main character nurses. They were so cool calm collected and knew their stuff!

I also loved that they made Malik an LPN and showed him working right in the trauma room with the RNs.

Carol definitely wins the main nurse award for ER.

I loved Abby, but didn't like that she went on to be a doctor.

Sam was just a pain most of the time.

I'm such an ER nerd...

I'm going to go find some old ER episodes on Netflix, I had NO idea Malik was a LPN, but good for the show to more accurately represent that function of nursing!

Specializes in critical care.

I LOVE Carla on Scrubs. She had so much class, skill and confidence. She had pride in her role. She knew she was awesome at it. When she felt like the others looked down on her, she put them right in their place, reminding how amazing nursing and nurses are. She was the center of it all, the heart of the hospital. I love her! Every hospital needs a Carla.

I also think that Nurse Jackie is amazing, if you pretend her personal life isn't a wreck.

Nurse Jackie is a great patient advocate despite her drug usage

I watch nurse Jackie.. But not for the nursing/medical stuff that's on that show because it's THE MOST inaccurate currently on television. I watch it for the dramedy.

She is a great advocate for the patients but it's overshadowed by the clear lack of medical advice those actors are getting...

Not necessarily the best, but one of my new faves: Hallie the hippo on Doc McStuffins. She's sometimes the first introduction little kids get to nursing, and that they help people. Plus she is Sooo cute with her big book of boo boos lol.

Can you tell Ive been watching a lot of tv with my 10mo old niece?

Carla from Scrubs. Her character was so strong and confident. I loved it she called JD, Bambi lol

Agree with all above! Although I always thought Malik was an RN for some reason. And Carol Hathaway will always be my fave.

I keep meaning to watch Doc McStuffins, one of my kiddos gave me a Nurse Hallie Valentine card this year!

In the early seasons he was known as an RN but the writers changed it for whatever reason. Maybe the medical advisors told the writers they needed an LPN on the show...

There's an episode where the non main nurses go on strike over a pay dispute. Abby stays on because she's a charge nurse. She asks Malik why he didn't strike with everyone else. He responds:

"I'm an LVN, it doesn't get any cheaper for me"
