Who just started LPN school ?

Nursing Students LPN/LVN Students

Published

I just started this week. Before things become too intense, I wanted to check in and see how things were going with those of us that just started LPN school.

My instructors are attempting to create a relaxed and open atmosphere. They have let us know that this is no walk in the park and that we need to study hard but we can do it. The instructors are very supportive and available.

We need to learn several things on our own. The lectures are interesting and our class is very crowded. We are getting tested each week and are responsible for a grade of 75 with only 10 questions :uhoh21: . That will be interesting.

I like it alot and look forward to learning.

hey everyone

I just wanted to give an updated, i passed maternity, sarted peds today.yeahhh

I started LVN school in October. I just started level two and last weekend was our first weekend in clincals. It went very well and I am so excited. Level one (our first semester) was foundations of nursing which included anatomy and physiology, nutrition, child growth and development etc.. Then we had our skills lab that taught us how to do all of our skills for nursing. Now in level two, we have clinicals and we are in Pharamcology now. We had our first test today and I made a 90....woo hoo... Anyways, in level two we also have geriatrics and mental health.. Then, in July we move to level Three and then level four. I will graduate in April 2007 and I am counting down.. My program is an 18 month evening program and it allows me to stay at home with my daughter during the day and just focus on school and my husband is with her at night. It has been a blessing and so far so good. I love school and nursing is GREAT!!!

Hi Everyone,

I just started lpn nusing at the beginning of February '06. It is the part-time program. Even though it is part-time we have sooo much studying to do. I am really surprised...thought it would be a little slower paced. We will be finishing our body functions book in just 6 weeks.

Just some advice.... i am already in my 5th rotation (last one) in my LPN program. When I started nursing school i remember not knowing a thing, being scared, and i even had days where i wondered "what have i done?" There was even this one specific day when i was by my third week that i remember leaving school, got into my car and just cried and actually drove off thinking to myself " I AM NEVER GOING BACK TO THAT PLACE AGAIN!"

I was overwhelmed by all my classes and the way my life was going to change. I did not understand Anatomy and i am horrible with math, so my drug and dosage calculation class was really overwhelming. To make a long story short, the begining sucks, nothing makes sense and you think that you are never going to understand. BUT, you do!!!!! I am proof of that, i decided that day, this was something i really wanted and nothing was going to stop me. As time goes by, everything starts to come together, especially when you start clinicals. I look back now on that day that i left school crying, and realize what a different person i am now and how proud i am of actually sticking it out and working hard, IT IS A REAL GOOD FEELING. Nursing school has made me grow up alot and appreciate many things, when you feel OVERWHELMED or like you can't do it FOCUS on the outcome. Picture yourself graduating, think of the INCREDIBLE accomplishment you are making. Cry it off if you have to when you are alone, then wipe those tears and keep on going. It is worth it, and things really do start to make sense and it all just falls into place. I graduate in 3 months, i am really excited, I plan to pass my N-CLEX in the blink of an eye, and i start my RN program in august. I still have my days when i get a bit overwhelmed, but thinking back on all i have gone through and accomplished, i am not stopping. I hope to make a great nurse, and I wish you all luck, trust me, its all worth it!!!!!

These are very kind words of encouragement. Thank you!

my lpn program is from the pits of hell. I will make it b/c I am determined. but it seem like everything is against us. Im not gonna go into detail. I am an emt and I dont see how someone can just walk into this program and do any good. I started in Jan. '06 and will be done the beginning of November. I have learned alot my biggest downfall I believe is meds. I have trouble remembering what they are all for. But good luck and hope your program is actually designed to work.

Hey guys I got a week left in my LPN program. Made it! Go to www.joanadam.com this site helped me out alot. It was made by a former LPN student. Good Luck you'll make it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!;)

My first semester of LPN starts in August. I am so excited and also scared out of my mind. I hope joining this forum will put me at ease when school by the time starts.

I'm in the second quarter of my LPN program, but had my first actual nursing class tonight. I was scared before I went... somewhere in the back of my mind I was wondering if after all my hard work on pre reqs I'd walk in there and my instructor would immediately know I'm not suited for nursing after all. Crazy I know, but it's so easy to get yourself all worked up. I walked in and immediately saw someone that I'd done some of my pre reqs with so that made me breathe a sigh of relief. It was a great class and it just flew by... Hope I can say that about all of them, lol ;).

Good Luck Everyone,

Best of luck to you all! What an exciting time in your lives! Before you know it you will all be graduates, waiting to take your state test. :)

Hi Lisa,

Where did you go to school? I'm in Ohio also.

:)

Good morning ALL :)

Hi i just started lpn school June 5th and i'm very excited. I have learned so much in these last 4 weeks and still cant believe im actually an lpn student.

I have taken 5 test already out of 24 for the first semester and have done well. im actually on vacation this week and will be returning to school on Monday.

My first sememster consist of A&P, foundations, medical terminology, law & ethics and clinicals. Wow thats alot RIGHT, we will be finish with the 1st sememster right b4 labor day,, which im really looking forward too and then the 2nd week of Sept we take our finals and that will determine who moves on to the second semester.

Over all its alot of information and the class is definetly do-able but you have to stay focus and set a schedule and stick to it.. Im lucky i not working right now,so i dedicate all my time to studying, but i do take breaks in between.

I just want to wish everyone much success and good luck.. Im sure we ALL will be GREAT nurses..
