Who just started LPN school ?

Published

I just started this week. Before things become too intense, I wanted to check in and see how things were going with those of us that just started LPN school.

My instructors are attempting to create a relaxed and open atmosphere. They have let us know that this is no walk in the park and that we need to study hard but we can do it. The instructors are very supportive and available.

We need to learn several things on our own. The lectures are interesting and our class is very crowded. We are getting tested each week and are responsible for a grade of 75 with only 10 questions :uhoh21: . That will be interesting.

I like it alot and look forward to learning.

hey , i am currently in LPN school, i am now on maternal nursing, i completed, gerentology and med-surg, i found med - surg to be the most challenging, but i got through it, i have 6months more to go, whooooo... i do plan to continue as an rn after i graduate in july.

good luck , and keep studying and do the nclex-pn questions after each chapter completed in class, it will help a lot in preparing for your class exam and the nclex

thanks for all of your information. i was trying to get sort of a support group going. why was med surg more challenging. good luck to you and keep us posted. ...when you complete the course do you get a certificate?

Hey Butterfly Bee

Upon Completion of my LPN cOURSE my school WILLgive us a testing out exam on all the various nursing areas we have covered, gerentology, med-surg etc. then i will get a diploma from the school, then i can take the boards.

Med-surg was challenging in terms of the exams not the clinicals, clinicals were great, we usually start working at the hospital at 6.00 am to 1:00 pm then we doour lectures. I think the reason why med surg exams were so difficult for most of my class mates, was because we did'nt have a pharmacology class prior to starting it, now after completing med - sur we have a pharm class, how backward lol .and the nclex style questions were killing us, but we got through it everyone but one person passed, i am sooo happy, (class of 25)

We usually get 6 exams totalling 50% and one final totalling 50% the passsing score is 75%. I was under a lot of stress because i had a lot of other things going on in my life and endless car problems (lol) so i failed 5 exams , all border line , in the 70's , i got so frustrated cause nursing is the only thing i wanted to do, in the last 2 weeks, i really start to getmyself motivated, like you can do this, i placed index cards in my bathroom with cute smiley faces to encourage me saying " you can do it lol" i stayed up every night , reading doing ncle questions, i took my 6th exam , and got a 97% the highest in the class, and the higest in the history of the nursing program at my school for that particular exam, that give me added motivation and the next week i took my final passed with an 84% , bringing my over all averageto a 81 a B. sORRY FOR SUCH A LONG POST, AM SO MOTIVATED RIGHT NOW, I REFUSE TO FAIL,AND I PLAN TO REMAIN STREESS FREE FOR THE NEW YEAR. NEVER DOUBT YOURSELF, THINK ABOUT HOW TH OUTCOME WILL BE AND WORK TOWARDS IT, GOOD LUCK GUYS

Hooray for CandyLPN What a very inspiring story!!! Thank you for encouraging us all especially those of us that just started like me.

I just started in Jan. I was really scared, but since I have gooten into it, I am going to be just fine. The only thing that I am worried about is the Pharm section. We must pass the final with a 90 or better or we fail NUR 101.

Thanks guys for all your encoragement.I am going to start next week part time LVN and we have to finish 3 assingments .

How long have you been going to school and if you don't mind telling me how much it cost.

It must be nice to be tested every week. At the school that I attend we are tested every day and some times two or three times a day. It can become very stressful at times but there is a light at the end of the tunnel. Good luck and be the best Nurse ther ever was,OK?
