I have been stocking up too!

Oh, and Jen--I would go to your Nursing director for a list of books you need so you can buy them cheaper online and ahead of time. I just bought my first year books (all of them) for 340 bucks as opposed to 800 thru the school library and most of them are new....

I'm ready! My backpack is packed. I got my books today...Why didn't I buy one of those roller backpacks????? Oh well, at least I don't have to carry it too far! I have started on my reading assignment and classes officially start one week from today!! Well, actually, my first classes are one week from tomorrow and the first nursing classes are one week from Thursday. I'm so excited though! I'm also very nervous!

I'm happy to hear that everyone is excited about the start of a new semester, but as for myself I have yet to get excited................maybe after I jump through all the hoops that I know are waiting for me. I got accepted into a BSN program back in June since then it has been all work and no fun. You have to stay on top of them for everything. Just about all the facualty are gone for the summer which makes it hard to get things done. I meet with the associate dean of the nursing department last month hoping to be advise (wanted to get it out of the way so I could register for classes because my assigned advisor is gone for the summer and would not return until 8/16). Little did I know when I got there they could not find my file so although she advised me on what class to take she recommended that I also schedule to meet with my assign advisor when she returned because she would have access to my file and would be able to advise me more accuratly:uhoh3:. Took a day off of work for nothing. She also told me that there would be a possiblilty that I would have to retake my chemistry and math (now this is a complete blow being as though I have complete all of the core class required for my BSN with the exception of my nursing courses). Now listen to this...... the univeristy that I came from I completed chemisrty I and chemisrty II with labs. She tells me, "Well at this university we require our nursing student to take chemistry 103.":uhoh21: Now I'm thinking to myself I KNOW my 8 credits of chemisrty has to be equevalent to this one 4 credit course. I read the course description for this class and essentially it is equivalent to chem 101 but in bold print it state that chem 103 is specifically for nursing students. So now I have to meet with the dean of natural science department and try /beg to be excussed from taking this class. In addition to this, I also have to meet with the dean of the math and english departments for similar situations. If all doesn't go well I will be retaking chemistry and college algebra in addition to the other three nursing classes I am schedule to take. I am not worried about the diffuculty level of any of the class, for I am confident in my acadimic skills... it is just the thought of taking all of these unneccerray classes when I could be focusing more energy on my first two nursing classes.:angryfire But (sigh) if I have to do it I will. All good things come with obsticles and overcoming those obsticle makes the victory more worth while. I have bought all of my supplies and ordered uniforms. No books until I register for classes. Won't be registering until I meet with every neccessary department, hopefully next week when school staff return. So those of u packing your bookbags consider yourself luck because there are alot of us still trying to shuffle our way through the paper work.:) Not excited now but will be.

I'm thinking about one of those Roller Back Packs, however I wonder if that would just get the way more than it would help.

In highschool people just ended up tripping over those things in the hall lol.

Hey--I just turned 33 this week and I'm going back to school--If I can do it~~anyone can!!

I was thinking of purchasing a "rolling backpack" also. I'm a commuter and we can't park on hospital grounds (too crowded) so we park about 2 miles away and get a shuttle. Its not like I can run to my vehicle when I need a book. The school has a few lockers--but in a totally diff. building from the classes. So, a rolling backpack might just be my best bet!

As for the other supplies--I'm kinda waiting until Orientation to find out what I need yet. I did purchase some pen, pencils, notepaper, and oh-- a PDA!!! Still trying it figure out how to use it!!!

I've been in nursing school orientation for the past two days and they've stressed ORGANIZATION!!! So all last night I spent organizing all my binders and putting dividers into the different sections. I even when out and bought a student planner. This weekend I get to go look for a tape recorder for my pharmacology and lecture class. I also have about 8 chapters to read before next Tuesday. I have about 15 different books and that's not including the recommended books. (which I also bought just because) Hey they must be recommended for a reason!!!! I'm still exicted though and a little less nervous and stressed. I just hope I can stay on top of things. Good luck everyone!!!!!!!!!!
