white scrubs

Nurses Uniform/Gear

We are required to wear white at our hospital. I'm looking for different (cute) tops - it seems they all look so similar! Any suggestions? Also, any hints on removing stains (blood and betadine) and keeping them White? They get so dingy after a few months! Thanks ya'll!!

Any genius that decides white is the color to wear ought to be forced to do the laundry for all employees - and no I don't mean the facility laundry! I mean do it personally; and do it to the employees' satisfaction. I bet they would change their mind quickly! Yes, white looks good, and looks professional, but I prefer colored ones that are easier to keep looking clean and fresh.

LOL I couldn't agree more! We have the worst water here so I will definetly be using the tips I found here!! Thanks everyone for the suggestions!

Don't forget, when you wear white, always wear underwear that matches your skin color. Do not, I reapeat, DO NOT wear white lace panties under white scrubs.

Unless you have ghostly white skin, like myself. =)

Anyway, though... I worked in a hospital once where we had to wear white tops; solid colored pants were OK though. I hated it with a passion; I'm one of the messiest eaters alive.

Hehe I can relate. As a student I constantly got a hard time from classmates for always spilling on myself, including my mandated white pants. I was still whiter than the pants, though. Thankfully I can wear pretty much whatever I want for my current job so long as I don't look like a total bum--though I do have a couple of coworkers that could probably pass for panhandlers in their typical work garb, and they get away with it.

LOL I am so glad to hear I am not the only one that has an extra hole in their mouth! The more careful I try to be, the worse it is lol.

are you one of my coworkers? hehehe......I had bariatric surgery and lost enough weight that my coworkers suggested that I get some new scrubs, because I look like a bum......

Good for you on the weight loss!! Way to go!!:yeah:

The brand Dickies has some cute white tops. The fabric is thick enough for me. I always wear undershirts under my scrubs- good for both warmth and coverage.

I have never had much trouble with spills, but I am not afraid to toss shabby stuff in the charity bin.

NO bleach???? I wear a lot of white and I am a bleach fanatic...

i love my whites and my bleach.

however, bleach will turn whites that have polyester in them, to a yellow or gray.

you can bleach if it's 100% cotton, but then again, you can iron as well.:)

i love wearing white jeans or painter's pants.

and i LOVE tide.

it's the best.

I agree I LOVE TIDE!!!! Nothing works like it. I just moved and I know have a well instead of city water....So far I have been lucky but the rust stains that build in the tub and toilets every week make me nervous for my uniforms...I will have to get some Iron out thanks for that suggestion!:yeah:

Rit also makes an iron remover. It's with the dyes.

If you live in a state where you can buy trisodium phosphate add a tablespoon to the laundry. NOTHING works like it. My dad worked for P&G his entire adult life and they went nuts when it was removed because of environmental concerns. Nurses got around that by adding a cup of ORIGINAL Cascade to their wash.

And nothing bleaches like the sun. On a nice day, hang out even your clean whites on the line and let them sun.

:)

I also keep a change of clothing in my locker. KaKa literally pasas.

Oh, I also adore wearing whites. I worked hard for the right, and everyone, no matter how confused, knows precisely who I am and why I am there. And I am proud to be identified as a nurse.
