White Pants Underwear Woes

Nurses General Nursing

As a former wardrobe and fashion consultant, I can't help but notice anytime I see an otherwise professionally dressed nurse, whose undergarments are noticeable because they too, are white, or even worse, colored or a print. Wearing nude undergarments, makes them far less visible especially when wearing white slacks. I don't know about you, but when I'm at work, I want to be seen as the professional that I am. If my undergarments are noticeable, it detracts from the message that I want to send, and that gets in the way of my interactions with my patients as well as with other health care professionals. It's not a huge thing, but why look this way when it's so easy to fix it.

5 bucks for one pair of undies are you cracked? good lord i dont pay that much for my scrub pants lol. ( ebay is sooo nice and cheap for brand newl ike stuff at very reasonable prices ) i am happy with my ole big white granny pants. if someone is looking at mybutt and dont like what they see they ccan look away seeing as they shouldnt be looking there anyhow. personally i have never even thought of this as an issue as i never look at peoples butts to see what kind of undies they wear ( i take that back - i did notice ONCE - when a gal wore a thong and pants cut low in back so the thing hung out thetop oif the pants - kinda hard to not notice that even if you try not to - THAT i could see as an issue in the professional ) but come on do you all really look at others butts to see hwat the heck kind of undies they are wearing?? seems kinda unprofessional to me. hugs tracie

I work in a children's hospital and plenty of nurses and techs wear white nursing pants. The nurses and techs don't come to work wondering who is looking at their white pants. They are there to work and their pants don't get in the way. They are trashy looking or wearing colors or strips or anything that would be noticeable. But, like I said, their work comes first, not their pants. If you have a problem with wearing white, don't do it. Don't everyone can wear white and wear it well. The smaller women wear the white pants very well and neat.

I agree with you all the way. If all you have time to do is look at people's butt, you must not be doing your job. What is up with that. I don't care what others are wearing as long as it's not you. If you are insecure about wearing white or any other colors, don't wear them. No one is telling you to wear them. Some butts aren't meant to wear certain things.

What they call "nude" doesn't work for me! :p

I'm a black girl so I usually wear black or dark brown undies under white pants!

White pants should be banned from the universe. They make every one look like this 86stayst.jpg or this michelin-manthumb.jpg

Big girls look like this, not small girls. Small girls look nice and neat not all out of shape.

Yanno, I don't think I've seen this much angst over clothing since Diana's wedding.

It's a real shame that we professionals have to worry about the work uniforms we wear as though we were waitresses in a nightclub.

Why? Because anyone can see through the whites they make for nursing! This is disrespecting of our profession at the MOST BASIC LEVEL--what we wear, for gawd's sake, and it needs to end. We're self-conscious about our clothing and it puts us at a level of emotional subjugation before we even start working.

We should really begin getting respect for our profession by demanding respect from nursing schools, hospitals, and clothing manufacturers by either refusing to wear whites altogether, or by refusing to wear whites that can be seen through at all.

Some places do require nurses to wear white pants. Or in some places, all white.

And it's hard not to notice someone's underwear when they're wearing bright red hearts that show through that white. It's got nothing to do with not doing your job.

It is hard, especially when a nurse who wears white scrubs with white underwear is leaning against the nurse's station and all you can see is her tush and white underwear and legs below that. Or she bends over to apply the fetal monitor and you can see or she bends over to pick up laundry from the floor and you can see . . . .

No one has to go looking for these opportunites . . . .

And it is unprofessional, as Angie said just mentioned.

I hate scrub bottoms, as I've mentioned. I like the look of white pants (jeans) with a navy colored scrub top and a lab jacket. I also wear different colored scrub tops - I'm not into cartoon characters or wild prints. (That's another thread)

The bottom line, so to speak;) , is no matter what color you wear (even nude), your underwear and legs can be seen under white scrubs.

Everyone looks horrid in white scrubs!

DOWN WITH WHITE SCRUB PANTS!!!!BAN ALL WHITE SCRUB PANTS!!!!:yeahthat:

I'm soooo glad we don't have to wear the white scrub pants to clinical! Khaki is not my favorite, but definitely beats out white! I saw a student nurse just yesterday with white pants and flowered undies....they were so see-through I wondered why she bothered putting on the pants at all!

You are so right!! The woman I'm alluding to in my post above is NOT big, she is small and you can still see her white underwear.

Add me to the BAN WHITE SCRUB PANTS list.

I've learned whenever you wear white bottoms you should wear black underwear. Wear solid black underwear, you shouldn't notice your underwear. Try it and see! Hope that helped.
