Which stethoscope for nursing school?

I start in the fall too and I'm having the same dilemma! I'm actually torn between the Littmann Classic II S.E. and the Cardiology III...I'm also curious as to if the colors shown online are true to the actual steth...like the purple classic and the plum cardiology but I don't know which one to choose! I've been going through old threads on here and the reviews are amazing for each...decisions, decisions!

I'm starting nursing school in the fall and I can't seem to decide which stethoscope to get. I've narrowed it down to the Littmann Classic II S.E. and an UltraScope. Any opinions would be greatly appreciated

I use Classic II SE.

I use the Littmann Master Classic II and it's a beauty. A lot of other students in my class have the Littmann Classic II and they have no problems with it. You shouldn't need a cardio scope unless you plan on pursing a career in ICU/ER/PARR etc...but you could always just buy one after your degree for those areas.

You'll probably want something with a normal bell and diaphragm to start with.

I think i am leaning more toward the Cardiology III. I know it might not be necessary for nursing school, but so many reviews of students with it say they loved it for nursing school. I haven't seen many complaints of students with the cardiology III wishing they had bought the Classic, but I have seen reviews of people who started out with the classic only to switch and upgrade for the Cardiology III. I am afraid if I get the Classic II I will always be thinking when can I upgrade...lol. It's just in my nature. :lol2:

I was also wondering about the colors... I was leaning toward the plum Cardiology III but was afraid it might not be what it looks like on the picture... Ill probably just have to hope it does. It seems the www.medisave.net has the best prices since it is free shipping and free engraving.

I ordered my PLUM cardiology III yesterday! haha, that's too funny:lol2:! I will let you know if it's true to color when I get it this week, I've got my fingers crossed that it'll be here by tuesday. I ordered it from medisave too! I am the same way, I'd always be wondering if I was missing out with the classic II so I just made the investment. Plus I want to be sure that I'll be able to hear all the heart and GI sounds really well. I will guard it with my life, lol. I got it engraved too. I can't wait to get it!

In nursing school I used the Littman Classic II SE. It was recommended that we get that or the Littman cardiology III which is way more expensive. Of course most of the students in my school got the Cardiology III (with their names engraved in it and all that jazz :uhoh3: lol). But I had no problems with the Littman Classic II SE and it does what it's supposed to.

I got the pearly pink Littman Classic II SE. I love it so far! I didn't want to get the Cardiology or anything super nice and fancy just yet, I figured that when I graduate school and go to work, I will buy myself a nice and fancy one as a gift to myself lol...I have to give myself a little motivation sometimes lol.
