Which order should I take my science classes?

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

Hi guys,

There are 4 science pre reqs that I need to take in order to apply for the nursing program:

Anatomy, Physiology, Microbiology, and Chemistry

Which order do you recommend taking these classes in? Also, is it a good idea to take two at a time, and if so, which two? Thanks!

i would take

chemestry and anatomy together

then phisiology and micro!!!

I don't think it matters all that much, but I might suggest taking Anatomy and Physiology together. At my school A&P is one class, and I took A&PI, A&PII, and now I'm taking Micro and Chem together. The material in anatomy reinforces the understanding of physiology.

Or..

You could be like me and take them all in one semester... AHAHA..

No I don't recommend doing that.

Anatomy and physiology definitely together.

We had to take Chem as a prereq for micro and A&P1&2 (unless you're talking about OChem).

I would do Chem and Micro (if you can take them together) and then A&P. If you can't take Chem with Micro - I'd take Chem and then I would take micro and A&P1 together, followed by A&P2. I just finished with these classes in the spring and felt that A&P2 was more demanding. Unfortunately I took micro at the same time:bugeyes:...but got through them both (I'm so glad too!!!)

Good luck whatever you decide!!!

I would say take Anatomy and Physiology together and then take Micro and OChem together. You will see some to a lot of material overlapping if taking them in these pairs. But if for whatever reason you can't take them in this sequence, take this advice with a grain of salt. I went with a totally "wrong" pattern, taking OChem and Physio first, then Micro and then Anatomy, and I still made A's and all four classes. Good luck!

i have a question for those of you who took anatomy and physiology together, did you take them running concurrently say for a full semester or did you do 8week classes of each?thanks

A&P I and II were the same class for me. I took A&P I in the 16 week format and A&P II in the 8 week format. It does help I think to learn where everything is and what it does and how it works all at the same time. Every class builds on the other and it really helps you to apply what you are learning.

Phsy. builds on a lot of Chemistry concepts so its good to have a basic concept first. But I would def take A & P together.

so with that being said, i haven't taken chemistry yet only biology, would it be better to do chem first and then do anatomy and phioslogy? thanks..

Do you HAVE to take two at a time due to time constraints? If not, if I were you, I would take each individually (less stress) and strive for A's. I took A&P 1 then A&P 2 then Chem, and Micro last.

But if you must take them paired, Anatomy & physiology is best together. But i couldn't handle chemistry and Micro together, personally. ( i H.A.T.E chemistry!!!)

I think I will take them one at a time...I will start with microbiology this spring, them chem in the summer, and A&P1 during the Fall...I only wanted to get it all done by end of Fall because that is when I will be turning in my apps for NS. But we still have until the spring after applying to finish our pre-reqs.

At the college i went to, ana1 is a prereq of Anat 2 and so forth sou couldnt do any two classes together
