I haven't taken my boards, but Saunder's Comprehensive Review is tremendously helpful for studying for my course exams. It has outlines & notes of material, practice questions, rationales of answers (both why the correct is correct and the distractors are wrong, as well as strategy). Saunders has several NCLEX reviews, I believe the Comprehensive is the best b/c of the notes.
For got to add - it also comes w/ a CDROM w/ a bunch (1600+/-) of questions as well, so you get the practice of taking computer tests.

Take as many computer exams as you can....they are extremely helpful. I took boards 2 yrs ago and found the Mosby's flashcards helpful too b/c I kept some in the car and in my purse and they were everywhere so when I had 10 minutes I was studying. Good luck!!!!

I recently ordered the Kaplan NCLEX-RN because I was told it is fantastic. Personally, I am more interested in the CD. I currently have Lippincott. The book is very good, but the disk is mediocre . . . it only has 300 questions in the test bank.
anyone else? Looking for more input.

ncsbn online review course www.learningext.com :)
I second tina's suggestion and would add in
NCLEX-RN review by Stein and Miller it has a CD rom with questions, and 20 audio CD's, going over all you need in nclex. It also has 2200 questions inside book.
Good Luck :)

I think Saunders Comprehensive and Kaplan was the best source to learn the techniques in answering questions. Ncsbn online review course http://www.learningext.com was very economical and it was good general review. After passing the NCLEX, I tossed my Saunders book, which I regret because I would have been a good resource for my first year of nursing.

Definitely Saunders comprehensive review for NCLEX-RN. Perfect book. Need I say more. I have not found any other book as good as this one. Definitely dont get Mosbys NCLEX review. I have that and it sucks and dont waste your money on incredibly made easy. It does not top Saunders. I want to kiss the publisher.

I second the opinion of some of the other responders. I liked Saunders a lot. It is kind of offputting at first since it is INCREDIBLY comprehensive, but then that's what you need to do a good review. I did NOT, however, read the whole book. I also had the first 2 books you mentioned and liked them. I also took the Kaplan course and read a 2003 version of their book. Aside from my Kaplan course (and the extra 20+ hours I spent taking tests at their site after the course), I spent the most time with Saunders, both the book and the great CD it comes with. Kaplan spends a lot of time in its book imparting these little strategies, which I confess I did not use when I took the NCLEX (I passed with 75 questions in a 2 1/2 hour blur.) If you only get 1 book, I'd go with Saunders.
