They only reason I'm starting this thread is b/c where I was on this date will forever be memoriable to my nursing career. Just 1 or 2 phrases to tell where u were at the time of the attacks....

I was in Fall semester Nursing School, senior year....1st days on the floor of our Psyc Rotation....all the TVs on the unit were on. It was a very interesting place to be during such a time.

i was a senior in high school in Texas and running late for my first period class. I ran all the way from the parking lot to my class. When I arrived it was silent except for the TV on. I had no idea what was going on, looked up at the TV screen as the 2nd world trade center was hit. People crying, everyone shocked, and lots and lots of anger and outrage. Couldn't believe it and still can't. One of our classmates was visiting NYC to visit NYU and was down the street at a hotel at the time.

My older kids were getting ready for school when the boys wanted to turn on the tv to see a report about a friend of theirs who had been hurt in an accident. We also had the "no tv" rule in the morning but I turned it on and the rest is history.

I was just watching a bit of TV before going to bed after a 12 hour night shift. I was just about to turn off the TV from Breakfast Television ( a morning news program in Toronto) when the news announcer said a plane had crashed in the World Trade Centre. I thought - OK, I have to see what kind of idiot could hit a place that big. Watched in horror until about 10:30 when exhaustion forced me into bed. Slept maybe 4 hours and got up to watch more before returning to work for another 12 night shift.

I was 5 months pregnant with my daughter....my husbands grandfather had died just a few days earlier. With all of these emotions on top of my pregnancy, there were several times when I thought the world was coming to an end. Just a terrible time but we have persevered.

I had been up all night--as it was the night (9/10) that my mother and I sat up talking thru the night after she confided to me that she was molested by her father from the age of 4 yrs old to 12. We were emotionally and physically drained when we went to bed. EARLY (on west coast back then) my Aunt called my house to tell me to turn on the news. Btwn the news on TV and the news my Mom shared with me..I was a walking zombie for what seems like months.

BTW--My little girl's first real word was "Cipro" (I had CNN on all the time for months, and w/ the Anthrax attacks it was always being said by newscasters)--I decided maybe it was time to turn off the tv!

My husband and I were standing at our sinks, getting dressed to leave on a vacation. He turned the radio on and the announcer was talking about the first plane. At first we thought it was pilot error. We decided to go ahead and go on our trip. I have NEVER seen the Golden Gate Bridge that empty.

I was living in Dallas and had the day off because I was planning on going to a Melissa Etheridge concert since she was performing in Dallas that evening.

I was jealous because my friend in NYC was going to a Stevie Nicks concert as she was scheduled to play in NYC that evening as well, and I would rather have gone to see Stevie Nicks.

Needless to say both concerts were cancelled for that evening.

I woke up bleary-eyed and turned the TV on right before the first tower fell.

I frantically tried to call my friend in NYC for hours and couldn't get through.

Luckily he was ok and on the upper west side when everything was going on downtown.

I was a junior in highschool, and in gym class and we were outside when it happened. Then I had a study hall the next period, and the principal came over the PA and told everyone to turn off their TV's. I had NO idea what was going on until I got to my history class, and they turned the TVs on. I was in total shock and disbelief! Never did figure out why the darned principal wouldn't let us watch history unfold.

I was folding laundry when my husband called and asked me to turn on the TV to check what the stock market was doing. (He is a fincancial advisor and was in the middle of moving his office). I turned on the channel and said "it's doing nothing". He kept telling me it has to be doing SOMETHING. I was looking at the bottom of the screen for the current market stats. I finally glanced up at the screen and saw smoke coming out of the second tower.

This was a moment I'll never forget.

Off work..typing a paper for college at my computer in the dining room . Went to search web for article and saw Comcast news had report of first tower being hit. Ran and turned TV on and watched the rest unfold.

My cousins wedding was following Saturday at Newport Beach, RI...many could not attend due to travel restrictions. We drove up I-95 past smoldering ruins. Sight my family won't forget.

i was up feeding my son who was born 3 weeks earlier and had the tv on to keep myself awake while he ate. i will never forget what i saw on tv that day.

I was in the 11th grade and entered my 3rd period English class to find my teacher sitting at her desk in the back of the room with the radio on and her head in her hands saying "I can't believe this" over and over. Since class hadn't started yet, most people were talking about whatever, but I was trying to listen to the radio to see what was wrong. I picked up the select words airplane, tower, terrorism and I just didn't see how they were related. When class actually started, she filled us all in as to what had happened and that was all that was on my mind for the rest of the day and following weeks.
