Where to take online prereqs?

Hello,

I was accepted to an accelerated nursing program for the spring 2014 semester and am now looking to complete the prerequisite courses that are required for the program. I was told that I could take them online so long as they are "regionally accredited and the course contains the required amount of credits/lab component."

I was wondering if anyone knew where I could take the following courses online for the fall 2013 semester:

Microbiology with lab (4 credits)

Human Anatomy with lab (4 credits)

Human Physiology with lab (4 credits)

Nutrition (3 credits)

I would prefer to take them all at one school as I assume financial aid would be more likely to cover them this way, but who knows. Thank you for your help in advance.

Check with local community colleges! :-) Sometimes Biology lectures are offered online and then you go to the campus for the lab portion. I'm not sure how common it is for them to be offered online, and it seems many advisors/programs do not recommend the lecture being taken online. If it's something you believe you could handle, go for it!Just keep in mind that all of the above courses are quite rigorous in course load.

Thank you for your suggestion. I have heard that lectures and labs can be offered completely online, it is just a matter of proper accreditation.

Hi, I ave no idea where you're located, but Rio Salado is an online college through the Maricopa Community colleges and offers those classes!

I think​ Ocean Community College (NJ?) offers all of them online as well.

I took biology online with lab during the summer. It was ok. I got a B and the lab was also online. We did the labs on a program that made it feel more like a game.

I am also looking to take Nutrition online because it's full at the college I attend. Do you mind sharing which accelerated program accepted you without completing the requirements?? I'm interested in applying.

if you at all can, i would take them at the school you are going to. it would be less time consuming if you actually went to the real class instead of online because you have to constantly look up questions scattered all over the book. I loved night classess for prereqs and went one night a week for each class.

also, if you just stay with one school, you wont have to round up a million transcripts when applying for schools.

I took A&P online through a McGraw Hill curriculum. I made an "A", but let me warn you... I had to invest MANY HOURS studying and completing assignments for that class. I know a lot of colleges use McGraw Hill... Good Luck :)

Educator here - just wanted to add . . .

There is a significant amount of evidence that there are some types of classes that are not really suited to online education. Students achieve much better results in traditional science and math classes than online. Many nursing programs will not accept online "lab" classes - so you may want to check and make sure before you invest so much time & $.

I took all of those, all with labs (except nutrition), through Georgia Military College online and A&PII at Cayuga Comm. College. GMC was fine because the tuition rate doesn't differ whether you live in Georgia or not. Cayuga Comm. College was double the price for being an out of state resident. Both schools are regionally accredited. Congrats on already being accepted!

I took all four of those online through portage.com (nursing abc) my local community college (suny school) REFUSED to recognize the courses but both the local hospital adn programs and the two local college ABSN programs recognized them and accepted my grades. It basically depends on your school. They do list on portage who accepts their credits.

This was much cheaper for me and also allowed me to get them out of the way very quickly.

I do not recommend online labs if you have no lab experience though.
