I have an Associate Degree in Nursing, currently enrolled in BSN (about 17 credits left). Graduated in December 2014 and passed my boards in March. I have sent out tons of applications all over. I tried Nursing Homes, HHC (almost all of them), Montefiore, (graduated from their school), Brookdale, Jamaica hospital, clinics, just about everywhere. Queens, Long Island, Brooklyn, Manhattan, Bronx, yonkers, even whiteplains....No Luck. Am not giving up on trying but good grief it is so difficult to get your foot in. I honestly thought Montefiore would at least give their students a shot. We are all getting rejections.... Anyway off next week and I am knocking on doors. Can't stop trying. In the meantime I just keep plugging at that BSN. Any ideas on what else to do? By the way I did get 3 interviews just did not get those jobs...went to internal candidates.
Am willing to work at any hospital or nursing home in any of the boroughs any shift.

Am just guessing, but I'd bet that metropolitan NY ranks just behind Calif's poor newbie nurse job market. Would trying further out into NJ be any better for you? Altho northern NJ is prob still too close to the Big apple to be a whole lot better. Just a thought ...
Good luck to you.
actually I just started searching info on getting license in NJ and CT..but decided to pay for ACLS , PALS and just scheduled IV certification. Trying everything. Thx.

Have you considered flu shot clinics?
I tried urgent care am not sure if that is the same thing.
HI,
No. Check craigslist. There are companies that outsource. They take new grads. I looked on indeed.com as well and flu shots season is coming up. I am looking every damn where... lol.. I have a ADN so it's a bit stiffer for me, but not hopeless by a long shot. Keep your head up!!
I have an ADN as well 17 credits shy of BSN. I try indeed as well. Reluctant to go thte agency route because of lack of training but may do just that. Thanks
I here you Friendly. I have another year left dpr my BSN. I just want to WORK!!! Some of the people from my school do home care and I admit the thought of that scares me. Especially being so green!

that's why you got to get lined up while in school. My friend just graduated RN school and works at a crappy nursing home. On the flipside, I'm at a hospital while in nursing school so I have access to the internal job market. Also, I get paid to refer RNs to this hospital. A co-worker of mine said he got hired from a referral in a different hospital so he actually got his foot in the door in 2 main well-known hospital systems! Let someone refer you, I would refer you in a heartbeat if I knew you.
Yes alot depends on who you know. Thx. I sent u a pm.
