This is something that has crossed my mind as well. The best time (for me) has always been in the morning. I've enjoyed doing bodyrock.com as it's usually only 12 minutes...keep on telling myself that I can find 12 minutes. Otherwise, I am hoping to hit the eliptical or treadmill and either listen to online lectures or while reading from one of our many nursing books. Good luck!
Cardio bursts! Ideally, these are incorporated into a regular workout routine, but honestly these are all I do. Heck, I only do one type LOL but it totally works for me: for the past few months now, everywhere I go, instead of taking the elevator I just take the stairs. If there are several flights of stairs, I try to walk up as fast as I can without killing myself. If it's just a flight or two, I run up as fast as I can. This has surprisingly been very effective in helping me maintain a decent waistline as long as I break a bit of a sweat & get my heart pumping enough to make me huff & puff for a minute or two until I can catch my breath. Recently I had to sprint about a block-&-a-half to beat the meter maid to my car & to my delight was not even out of breath when I got there - all thanks to just taking stairs. (However, I never take the stairs going down - it hurts my knees.)
Every now & then I'll drag this 5 lb kettle bell around the house just to throw in some strength training. There's also a yoga mat laid out on my bedroom floor & I'll do some random yoga stuff here & there. I really, really hate the gym so I make it as accessible & simple as possible to do something physical at random opportunities. I hate walking/jogging/running too so my current routine works well for my lazy self.
I plan on going right after my last class each day. It may be for only 30 mins but I want to use that time to give my brain a break from all the info I've been trying to shove into it. As much as I know I'll be tired, I really want to view this time as a necessary break for my whole self. I also have some 5 pound weights under my desk at home that I can bust out during reading sessions or use during small breaks in my study sessions.
I actually take the Personal Fitness class each semester. For a $30 dollar gym fee and the $125 tuition for the semester I get access to the gym and 5 sessions with a personal trainer. The best part is this is a class, I have to clock in for 4 hours total every week to get an A, 3-4 hours is a B. etc.... We get a letter grade every week, but it motivates the nerd-overachiever in me to go because I don't want the bad grade on my transcript
