Nursing is a profession that often involves long lonely night shifts in eerie hospital wards. It's a perfect breeding ground for ghost stories. These stories often involve sightings of apparitions, strange noises, and unexplained events that are said to have taken place in hospitals, hospices, and other healthcare settings. Some of these stories are believed to be based on true events, while others are purely fictional. Regardless, they continue to captivate and intrigue both nurses and non-nurses alike - providing a spooky glimpse into the world of healthcare after dark.

Ever thought of getting a priest in there?:chair::chair::chair::chair::chair::chair:

when working at a maximum security forensic hospital for the criminally insane, i had the scare of my life! another nurse and myself entered the hallway where a psychologist had been murdered and a social worker had been held hostage and raped by 3 patients that had gotten into the locked area. this incident had happened many years before. we had to use the bathroom and when we entered we noticed that the hallway was extremely quiet, all the doors to the offices were locked and we made sure we locked the two doors we entered. as i unlocked the bathroom door, i heard a male voice moan loudly! i didn't want to appear crazy so i slowly went to close the bathroom door because i wasn't about to go in there! as i closed the door there was a heavy sigh from this same male voice! as i locked the bathroom the door i asked my fellow nurse if she had heard "that". she looked at me in shock and stated she had! we slammed the door shut, ran down the hall, unlocked one set of doors to get out and then got out the last set of doors to the main hallway! we were so scared that we had to call security to come and check out the hallway where we had been. they checked every office and the bathroom and told us that there was no one anywhere in that hallway. needless to say neither of us ever went down that hallway again unless it was daytime and there were numerous other people in the hall. i know that male voice was the voice of the psychologist that was murdered there as he tried to save the social worker from those 3 insane patients!

I work as a CNA and it was time for 10PM night rounds at the nursing home we work at. Anyway it's said that there is a ghost of a resident that died quite a few years ago and she looks like a resident we had at the time this happened. A call light came on from a resident that it totally independent and very with it. She was complaining and getting very upset that "suzie" was trying to get into her bed. The aide that went to answer her call light insisted that no one was in the room and no other residents in the hall way. But to asure her more she went to "suzie's" room to check on her and she was sound asleep with her alarms pluged-in.

We had an extremely slow night once when I was still a PCT on the PCU unit. One nurse brought a laptop and we fiddle around on youtube (after rounding on our very few patient's of course). Well, we got to looking at one of those "Screamer" vids (the ones where an ugly face pops up at the end, screams, and forces you to go the bathroom to check your' drawers). Now, I realize it was probably the video making me sense things, but I was in the hallway, the lights were dim, there were no patients on this end (I was emptying a linen cart); I sensed something behind me, I saw a shadow on the wall, I turned.....no one was there.... I went back to the nurse's station real quick:D

There are also stories about the floor I work on now, water turning on by itself and so on....

If I had time, I'd tell about the time we pranked a co-worker who had just seen "Paranormal Activity".....

aww, no fair...you have to tell us now...you can't tease us like that

I also have a story, not sure how spooky it is, but it will raise your faith alot. I am not a nurse yet but my father about 3 years ago was admitted to the ER then to the ICU due to a sever car crash. He was in a coma for a few days and when he came to, a few days later he told me about what he saw when he was asleep. He said that he saw angels and the well known bright light, but he said he knew it was not his time yet. Well then, the strange part comes to when he says that he had seen the devil and the devil handed him a pipe to smoke out of and my father refused to smoke out of the pipe, then he came to. A quick history about my father, he did smoke ciggarettes and pot back in the day and I personally think this could have been his test, and then and there he had to make a choice and I think his choice gave him life again. He was in very critical condition, to this day he is still disabled, but I will not ever forget that story that he had told me. Makes you realize life is much more beyond just what we see.

when i worked in Singapore,in our ICU that particular room was really famous for that kinda stuff. so one day we had this old lady who was really sick for CHF and she was barely able to move her hand and stuff was put in that room. we thought she would be gone anytime soon. all in sudden the next morning she woke up and went out of control. the nurses on day shift gotta put her on full body restraints cos she tried to bite and attack nurses. After taking over shift that night, i tried to do assessment on her as she looked calm and sleepy. while I was assessing the NGT placement, her eyes suddently opened with that green evil look and said she's gonna eat me up and tried to bite me with her mouth wide open. the way she talked to me was like those ppl who were in chinese opera kind of tone. (she spoke chinese) i was so scared and ran out of the room. that very same night she passed away. the very coincident thing was that i had fever the next morning and came down with severe abd pain. i ended up going for the emergency op for my severely bleeding ovarian cyst on that night.. thank godness was able to be discharged within a week... I didnt believe those nurses' ghost stories before. after this incident, i was like 'hell yeah, they exist'. :D

I saw a patient in the afternoon that I didn't know went to cardiac arrest & died in the morning.
