So Frustrated with school and the admissions. Please help!!
in g Thanks I appreciate that. I had to run get something to eat. I dont even know how to get cert for pct or i would do that now. Ill check it out, I am working in a business/corporate environment, seriously it sucks. I dont like being stuck at a desk for 8 hours not being able to carry conversations longer than 1 minute. I am really looking forward to becoming a nurse. I heard the market is a bit tight around here for nurses, but I am good graces with my pcp so maybe when i graduate he might hire me. Who knows, thats a long ways away. I wish you the very very best on your journey. Are you going to go to UTA eventually. BTW can your receive messages, just not reply to them or cannot reply to them at all? Let me know, thanks.

Thanks I appreciate it. I added you as a contact/friend. I wanted to ask you, are you able to still work full time, part time, or not at all while being in tcc's nursing program? Just curious for future job planning. I am going to apply next semester after I get micro and chem out of the way.

So Frustrated with school and the admissions. Please help!!
I am taking **********. It takes a special person to understand him, but we get along well. Me and this other girl were among his favorites in his last class so I would like to keep it that way :). I heard ***** was really good. Right now I am taking a math class, cant remember the guys name and I am also taking Psych Lifespan and Development..... ********. For my Chem I took ********, that explains alot why I dropped twice, lol. All these professors are at the NE campus. ******** does make AP challenging, but not impossible. As far as getting accepted, I have been told that because that one little thing with chem.... I should not worry too much about it because I have a good gpa, and letters of recommendations, and yada yada, but still. I do not want to struggle trying to get into the school. Actually TCC nursing is among the best around the DFW area, unless you count UNT's nursing program.

So Frustrated with school and the admissions. Please help!!
Oh Please, I am not mad. I was just frustrated this morning. I am over it. I appreciate your well wishes, and same to you. I was wrong for some of the things I mentioned to you, and I do see your point in some of the matters. Its just a rough time and I know I will make it. I wish you best in your practice. And by the way, I wasnt throwing rocks at your glass house, they were pebbles. JK. but seriously everyones response has made me feel better and if I cannot get into this program at this school, oh well.... I will go someplace else. and Stop rolling those eyes, thats so old. Your right about one thing, turning the negative experience into a good one and using that energy for something better and thats what I plan on doing..... Seriously though. Thanks for the reply and best wishes to you as well. Smile :)

So Frustrated with school and the admissions. Please help!!
I was doing great in chem until the second half of the semester and I fell ill with strep, so I was down for a good two weeks, and had other issues going on, then things went down hill. I managed to save my AP 1 class and made an A in that. In my opinion, I would think AP would trump chem. Like mentioned above, you never know what might happen when it does happen, some things are just out of our control. I agree with what you say though.

It is sad to see that people are so quick to place blame or cause for someones inability to do something without even knowing the original problem. Your an NP you should be more understanding. I want to do Great in chem and not just pass it with a C. I had a heavy load but still I cant help what the rules in the school say when they keep changing them year after year. And literally they are changing them year after year at this school.

So Frustrated with school and the admissions. Please help!!
Thank you. I appreciate the feedback. It just gets so frustrating dealing with the admissions process. I only have three classes to go before applying, Micro, Chem, AP II. So I am almost there. I will most likely take chem alone so I can focus on it and make an A. I think I will take it during a summer course so I can just focus on that course alone. This semester I am taking a math class, AP II and Developmental Psych...... I work full time so it gets so frustrating sometimes when I am trying to progress up the ladder of life, while being smacked down a few stairs. The good thing is, my school isnt the only nursing school around so I will keep trying. and I will not give up, I know someone out there wants a good nurse, and I believe I will be a really good and compassionate one at that. More feedback is welcome but here is what the school policy says verbatim. "Only the highest grade from the first two attempts on any general education course will be considered for admission. The exception to this rule will be a science course that is required to be taken more than twice because it is older than five years. Any course withdrawals will be considered as one of the two attempts." When I called them they said that since I withdrew twice there goes my points for that class.

So Frustrated with school and the admissions. Please help!!
Hi everyone, I have to vent. I been studying my butt off for a couple of years now and I dropped chem twice, because I was going to get a C in it. Well come to find out at my school if you retake a course twice they take the highest grade, well since I dropped twice out of chem, no matter what the grade is the third time, they are not even going to count it, and it can be used against me while applying. I have a 3.87 gpa, and I only have 1 B. and the rest are A's. It is frustrating to me. I just do not know where to go anymore. So now I am looking at my options. Originally I was going to go to the community college where I am attending at now and just get my adn/RN then go to UTA here in Arlington to get my BSN. Well now I feel I might as well just take the prereqs for BSN and just wait another year. There are other colleges around here that offer nursing but they make the admissions process so complicated and do not accept half of the courses that the university will take from the cc that I am at now. Please I need some advice. Should I just take my prereqs towards BSN and give the ADN program a shot and if they reject me, just keep shooting for the BSN at the university? I just feel everytime I make 2 steps forward its three steps back. Thanks a bunch.

Why is nursing such a horrible job?
I personally feel that nurses in general should be paid more. If you think about it there is an extreme danger to our licenses and nurses spend the majority of the time catching some errors the doctors make, spend most of the time administering life saving drugs to patients. To put up with the bs of some mean patients. It is very rewarding to help people, but in reality, we can take only so much and want some type of decent compensation. I am going to school now to become an rn and I looked around my area for new grads pay rate at local hospitals and they start out about 24- 30 per hour. I personally think that is good for the Dallas-Fort Worth region. I think lpn's get paid around 18-20 per hour. The NP's here get paid about 35+ per hour and as usual the CRNA's make a very nice salary. I think it is all what we want in it. I sometimes have my doubts, but knowing at the end of the day when I go home and I helped save at least one life, it will be all worth while. As we all know it, life does not carry a price tag nor money value. I am noticing more and more nurses becoming burned out and I certainly hope things change for the better for all of us. I may not have my license yet but I consider myself a part of the team. I hope that is ok.

What's Your Best Nursing Ghost Story?
I also have a story, not sure how spooky it is, but it will raise your faith alot. I am not a nurse yet but my father about 3 years ago was admitted to the ER then to the ICU due to a sever car crash. He was in a coma for a few days and when he came to, a few days later he told me about what he saw when he was asleep. He said that he saw angels and the well known bright light, but he said he knew it was not his time yet. Well then, the strange part comes to when he says that he had seen the devil and the devil handed him a pipe to smoke out of and my father refused to smoke out of the pipe, then he came to. A quick history about my father, he did smoke ciggarettes and pot back in the day and I personally think this could have been his test, and then and there he had to make a choice and I think his choice gave him life again. He was in very critical condition, to this day he is still disabled, but I will not ever forget that story that he had told me. Makes you realize life is much more beyond just what we see.

Passed Nclex Pn on the second try!! Please read this if you feel like giving up!
I am extremely happy for you, thats wonderful new, especially for the New Year. You worked your butt off during school and studied and yes life happens. I firmly believe that everything happens for a reason and now its your time and go out there and save some lives. I think tests scare everyone, even simple tests. Well I cannot express how happy I am for you and I have to still go through nursing school myself and all that fun stuff. So when the day comes, wish me luck that I make it and do well. Have a very wonderful New Year and may God be with you the whole way.

If it's such a horrible job, why not quit?
Just a question that I want to throw out there. If nursing per say is bad, arent there other areas that are less stressful such as NP, or CRNA, or something like that? I am just curious. Thanks everyone. Have a wonderful New Years :)
