  1. Thanks, Gomama!!! What my hubby calls me í ½í¸
  2. Hi. Can I have a link for Barry class of 2018 FB please. I was interviewed on August 12 and got in. Thanks!
  3. hi there, I took my NCLEX exam via New Mexico Nursing board while I was working as a RN in Singapore. New Mexico Nursing board doesnt ask for SSN so that you can take ur NCLEX exam in Phil or somewhere in asia. I took mine in HongKong. In this way I have been a registered nurse in the US even before I was physically in the country. After I moved to the US and obtained SSN as a permanent resident, I then endorsed with WA nursing board (cos WA nursing board requires SSN) . hope that might help u.
  4. Well, now this is the time for u to go for ACLS certification in which u will be trained how to handle the code situation.
  5. I am so sorry to hear that. If I were you since she kept saying 'No' and you knew that u wont get a job in her pathetic facility, I would be feisty and asked her why the heck she is interviewing you in the first place. And would tell her you were so glad that u didnt get a job in this kind of close-minded organization. u know just her a piece of what she deserved as a bad person. anyway, pls dun give up.. keep on looking for a job. there are a lot of hospitals wanna hire new grads.. Good luck!!!
  6. Before u mail it out, cant u try to make a call to HR personal who helped u arrange the interview and ask the interviewer's email address? this is what i did the last time good luck!!
  7. I guess it's advisable to send a thank you letter via email. cos if u send by a snail mail, the interviewer might have already made a decision by the time he/she receives ur mail. Normally I ask my interviewer email address at the end of it and send thank you mail as soon as i got home, starting with Dear (their last name).. hope it might help u
  8. i would start CPR. By thinking in the way that even when we see someone inresponsive in the mall or public area I might start doing CPR. so why not in the hospital floor, unless the patient is under my primary care and I am in the situation in which obligated to know the code status.
  9. I think this link might help u answer ur question.. http://emedicine.medscape.com/article/766479-overview. cheers!!
  10. i have been working night shift for 5yrs. 3days/week. but i try to run at least 3days/week and do yoga here and there. my resting HR is 52 as i m a long distance runner. i promise myself that i will run at least 15miles per week and trying to keep up with it. i feel fortunate that i dun like fast foods and sweet stuff. u will be surprise if i say i dun like chocolate and cheese i know pls dun roll ur eyes and call me silly.. i eat as much as my husband does. i never need to worry about my weight. i do work with a lot of large nurses and doctors. one doesnt need to be a nurse or health care worker to be health conscious. but mostly it is a personal control and discipline i guess..

hgb 3.5 and patient is still alert and conscious?? that's the record low i have ever seen. did u consider other causes like hemodilution,etc.. ??
  12. i agree with above 2 inputs. it's very true that u need to be very handy with the skills and time management to be travelling nurse as there's no orientation. the hospitals expect you to be fully functional on ur first day of work. all the best..
  13. when i worked in Singapore,in our ICU that particular room was really famous for that kinda stuff. so one day we had this old lady who was really sick for CHF and she was barely able to move her hand and stuff was put in that room. we thought she would be gone anytime soon. all in sudden the next morning she woke up and went out of control. the nurses on day shift gotta put her on full body restraints cos she tried to bite and attack nurses. After taking over shift that night, i tried to do assessment on her as she looked calm and sleepy. while I was assessing the NGT placement, her eyes suddently opened with that green evil look and said she's gonna eat me up and tried to bite me with her mouth wide open. the way she talked to me was like those ppl who were in chinese opera kind of tone. (she spoke chinese) i was so scared and ran out of the room. that very same night she passed away. the very coincident thing was that i had fever the next morning and came down with severe abd pain. i ended up going for the emergency op for my severely bleeding ovarian cyst on that night.. thank godness was able to be discharged within a week... I didnt believe those nurses' ghost stories before. after this incident, i was like 'hell yeah, they exist'.
  14. was 1 yr in cardiac tele- liked it. 5yrs in cardiovascular ICU- love love love the challenges and critical thinking process..
  15. I gotta consider myself lucky then. I have been working night shift for 6yrs, 3nights per week, and still able to maintain my weight. In fact, I am in my best shape ever. cos I try to be very conscious with what i eat and when i eat esp I am working night duty. I try not to eat in the middle of the shift. I usually have a dinner before my duty and breakfast after my shift. Then I will wake up around 2pm for light lunch or so.. I really try hard not to eat during the night by brushing my teeth right after the dinner I know a silly idea
