Hi, I was wondering about some of those weird names that you've probably encountered in L&D and PP. I remember when I had my maternity rotation a couple of weeks ago, one of the nurses said she remembers a patient that named her child Placenta. I couldn't believe it that some child has to live his life named after disgusting afterbirth!
how about "celery"?
how about "celery"?
LOL - good one - I wonder if they have Carrot and Broccoli cousins? :chuckle
Hi, working in mental health there is a high percentage of people that present that have unusual names. There is a pattern emerging where certain names will have a certain diagnosis. The deciding factor is the parents who undoubtedly have control over the child's upbringing and development. Food for thought when you pick a name for the child.

Um, which names in particular. When me and my husband have kids I wanna make sure I don't use them! I am really superstitious so I wanna know!
Just had to post some of the strange names I've seen
*Went to hs with a girl whose last name was Hymen (and pronounced that way)
*little girl named ayden (love the name but for a girl???)
*cousin whose initials spell out "GAP" (not intentional either)
*My dad almost named me "Nikita" (after the Elton John song) but Mom vetoed it
*Dad also wanted to name my brother "Tyrone Obediah"
*Brother's friend is so sick of seeing spellings that don't match pronunciations that he's actually threatened to name his son "Bench" and tell people it's pronounced "Steven"
*Went to school with a brytni (pronounced "Brittney") and a Rex (good thing he was popular--the guy was so tall and huge that his friends nicknamed him "Ogre")
*My grandmother has come across people with the following names (that she likes and wants me to use for my kids): Eternity, Trinity, and Serenity.

Hey, had I been a boy I WOULD have been named Elton John. No crap! Instead, since I turned out female, I got Joni, after the Canadian folk singer Joni Mitchell. Can you say hippies? I absolutely hated it when I was a kid, because it was so unusual, I often got called John-e, but now as an adult I actually like that I'm named after someone as talented and creative, too bad none of that came along with the name.
Here are my favorites from over the years:
"Q" --baby boy, brother named Michael
Prince --mother's name was Princess
Preciousangel Quaanika
Smith and Wesson (brothers)
Nu' Passion and Nu' Miracle --twin sisters. Mother had originally named baby A Nu'Miracle and baby B Nu'Passion, but switched them around when she realized that the "passion" came first and created the "miracle"--no I'm not kidding.
Brack
Kora Vette (first and middle)
As far as the Lemonjello and Orangejello--we had a set of twins born in our hospital with those names!! They moved to the St. Louis area and my mother has a colleague who taught them in her classroom. They are recorded in our NICU patient book. No keyboard eating here!
I will post more when I think of them.
I heard of a girl named Female, pronouned like Emily but with the F. Her mother thought the nurse named her baby for her & thought it a cute name. This just proves that cousins should never marry.:chuckle

But really...My husband's brother's best friend's girlfriend's cousin's stepsister's mother's friend's aunt really knows a lady who knew someone who taught two twins named that. No for real.
I did hear of a baby named Nevaeh Tnes. Unfortunately Nevaeh is becoming quite popular...but I don't like it. Heaven spelled backwards seems kind of evil if you ask me.
