What's the weirdest baby name?

Specialties Ob/Gyn Nursing Q/A

Hi, I was wondering about some of those weird names that you've probably encountered in L&D and PP. I remember when I had my maternity rotation a couple of weeks ago, one of the nurses said she remembers a patient that named her child Placenta. I couldn't believe it that some child has to live his life named after disgusting afterbirth!

I just helped deliver my 8th grandchild last night...first name---Michael Angelo, middle name--- Amen Ra.

congratulations to you and your family, rambisisking!

I have a Tanner. :) And a Travis, Tatum and Teagan.

And speaking of that.. how many people do you know that give their kids all the same first letter?

One of my best friends has Michaela, Madison, Macie, Molly and Merrick. I think it's too cute but I still can't help getting them confused. Something about all the M's that makes you have to think before you speak!

As for me.. My first two babies ended up with Irish names accidentally, in the sense that we only realized they were both Irish after we had picked them (Kelsey and Sean) so when the 3rd one came I told my husband he'd better get an Irish name too. We named him Owen (which worked out as it also happens to be his paternal great grandfathers middle name). I always find it interesting to hear how people come about naming their children.

My SIL was expecting a boy (at least according to the ultrasound) and when a girl was born she had no names at all chosen. She opened up a book at the hospital and the editors name was Rachel.. bingo.

My step-sister named all of her kids with B names and all of their middle names are Lee. Their last name starts with a T, so all of their initials are BLT including her husbands! The youngest is named Brad, but they call him Braddy which sounds like bratty...poor kid.

How about in the musical Seven Brides for Seven Brothers (alphabetical biblical names): Adam, Benjamin, Caleb, etc.

I knew a set of twins named Mercedes and Porsche. But they grew up in the projects and took a bus.

I had a girl in my class named MyAngel. (She was far from anybody's angel).

I have a friend that works at a middle georgia technical school, twin brothers...

Le-monj-ello, and O-rangej-ello

Lemon jello and Orange jello

too weird

According to this thread, these are not unusual anymore. You are about the 58th person to attest to knowing of people with these names. Makes you wonder if its just a myth......

It just sort of happened that way. :chuckle We liked Tanner, Travis was named after my brother. We thought about other girls names but Tatum was the only one we could agree on. And by the fourth, we couldn't switch the letter w/o having an oddball. :p

We did the same thing with the kids - actually, I wanted them to have the same initials as their dad (didn't even want to go there with mine since I have {speaking of weird names} 5 middle names). So, both my kids and my hubby have the initials MLP. It actually worked out really good - they still have very traditional names, just similar initials. So I guess I can join the oddball club now myself. :chuckle

I knew a set of twins in highschool named Ginger and Cinnamon. Bright redheads too - most popular. And that was 13 years ago. Perhaps it is the age of spices :-)

I have five year old twin girls, when my husband and I decide to name them, we wanted something different, names that you do not hear of now, so we went with Veronica and Victoria, and now days those are different compared to what names children are given, at their birth the nurse that was there with me, said she had two sets of twins that one set of parents named them Peaches and Creme and the other set was named Peaches and Strawberries. Could you image a CEO or even a President that rules nations with those type names or even elderly with such names.
