Hi, I was wondering about some of those weird names that you've probably encountered in L&D and PP. I remember when I had my maternity rotation a couple of weeks ago, one of the nurses said she remembers a patient that named her child Placenta. I couldn't believe it that some child has to live his life named after disgusting afterbirth!
Twins that the mom wanted to spell the exact same but pronounce differently. Same middle name too. Our birth certificate people told her she can't give two people with the same birthday the same exact legal name lmao! She wasn't happy. Changed the second name to be slightly different.
weirdest name i've heard = "Robo" (they named the baby after the grandfather whose nickname was Robo because he had some kind of metal plate in his leg)

UG we had a mom with m/f twins do this. Spelled the girl name ending with an i and the boy name ending with a y. Marly and Marli. WHYYYYYYYYY????????
AmyLynn=a million, ya know, like a million dolla!
We had a Godbless Louisiana on our unit a couple of years ago.
I had had one young mom unable to pronounce the name her Aunt picked out for her baby. She tried several times and said, "I'm just gonna call him Fat-boy till I practice"
Been in L&D for 12 years. I've personally cared for at least 3 Tequilas, many Candidas, Hennesey, and a few Tangerays(spelled this way). My patient once named her baby Lyrica (pronounced Lie-reeka), because she saw the name on my pen given to me by a drug rep for the med!

I can't say I've seen any truly out-there names lately. We are seeing lot of names once considered 'old lady'-ish - Amelia/Millie, Ella, Lena, Vivian. Personally, I think they are quite nice. :)
La-sha pronounced ladasha
orangejello
female pronounced fe-mal-ee
Kache Money
No joke. Yes, it is pronounced Cash Money. Somebody has been watching too much BET...
I went to high school with a girl named Stormy Night (first and middle.) Her sister had a name similar but all I can remember was that it had to do with Sky. My sister knows a girl named La'. Lapostrophe. I just can't understand what goes through parents heads sometimes..... Lol
I asked the patient what she was naming her daughter and she said "Honesty" but it was spelled Ah'nahstee. I told her to be prepared to spell that name out for the rest of her life :/
