What's the weirdest baby name?

Specialties Ob/Gyn Nursing Q/A

Hi, I was wondering about some of those weird names that you've probably encountered in L&D and PP. I remember when I had my maternity rotation a couple of weeks ago, one of the nurses said she remembers a patient that named her child Placenta. I couldn't believe it that some child has to live his life named after disgusting afterbirth!

As the patient was being wheeled into the OR for her c-section, the last thing she remembered seeing was a "No Smoking" sign. She named her child "Nosmoking." Pronounced "naw-smaw-king!!! I just hear that the other day!

A set of twins -- Abcde and Fghi -- pronounced "Absidy and Effigy".

Twins: Orangejello and Lemonjello...

A friend of mine is an Audiologist in a public hospital here in Australia, and she went to the waiting room one day, looked down at her patient list, and the next name she called out was....

SHREK.

Without a word of a lie.

I know of some people with the last name Schreck, but that's not quite the same thing.

I once had a mother who was the support person for her daughter while in labor. They were very proud of their names and the name they chose for the baby. The grandma's name was Moniqka (Mo-nik-a); the mommy-to-be was Cliniqka (Clin-nik-a); and the baby was to be Eueniqa (You-nik-a). They thought themselves very clever.

We also had a spanish patient that named her baby Fe-Mal-e'. :lol2:

And once we ALMOST had another Spanish lady name her baby Meconium.....she kept hearing us say it while she was in labor....we had someone explain it to her and then she decided on something else. :yeah:

Ophelia Peters, and Aima Greezdyk... need I say more?

My patient the other day had quadruplets and they had the best names ever! The identical boys were Lemonjello and Oranjello. The other boy she named Shithead (pronounced Sha-th-eed) and the one little girl was Female (Fuh-MAL-ee). She had an older girl named Placenta and an older son named Nosmo. Her last name was King.

Oh my god!! I did n ot know that Meconium was pregnant!! and quads too!! Well, tell her and her husband- Abcde- that I wish them the best!! And to think that little Placenta was named after her gramma!! Brings tears to my eyes!!!

Don't forget Auntie Le-a!

And no, we mustn't forget about the proud twin cousins, Syphilus (See Phylus) and Gonorrhea (Gon-OR-ree-UH). :D

When I was pregnant 3 years ago, I would read this thread. I actually threatened to tear my hair out if I heard about the Jello twins one more time - alas, they show up on every page or two. I told people here on AN that I couldn't decide the name of our baby girl, the names in the running for her were Fe-mal-e (of course, she was a girl after all), Lemonjello and Oranjello. Someone actually sent me a PM asking if I was really going to do this. :lol2:

Rest assured, our baby girl (almost 3 year old!!!) has a pretty, normal name, not based on urban legend.

Miracle was mentioned in a previous post. We had a child in the ER named Remiracle. Must have been her second child. LOL

unbelievable!!
