What's the weirdest baby name?

Specialties Ob/Gyn Nursing Q/A

Hi, I was wondering about some of those weird names that you've probably encountered in L&D and PP. I remember when I had my maternity rotation a couple of weeks ago, one of the nurses said she remembers a patient that named her child Placenta. I couldn't believe it that some child has to live his life named after disgusting afterbirth!

then there was the couple that had john wayne and kirk douglas, and the quadruplets all named after texas towns and counties: travis, austin, katy, carroll.:nurse:

those aren't bad at all. they could have ended up with galveston, el paso, corpus christi, and san antonio.

I don't mind hearing of people being named for towns, etc. (after all, Florence Nightingale was named for the city where she was born, I think), but I really don't want to hear that that was where they were conceived!

One mom named her little girl Meconium. An RN said "you can't name her that, it's baby poop!" and mom said, "but on one knows that". Kept the name . . .

Here is a list of previous NICU graduates for whom I have cared:

Black Dragon

Unique (that he was...all twelve pounds of him)

Dainja (with his siblings Chaos and Misery)

Female (thank god it was actually a girl infant)

Katiria (pronounced a little too much like diarrhea)

D'sani (water anyone?)

I am sure I could think of others, but these are what first came to mind.

And...no offense to anyone here...but I would be happy to not see the names Jayden or Javian for at least six months.

Oh yeah...Junior. Not like David Smith Jr. Just Junior.

What happens when these poor children go to school or try to get a decent job????

You gotta have a license to drive and register to vote and fill out many piles of paperwork to own a car or a house...but to have a baby......???

Just saw this name in a birth announcement in the local paper---

the ever popular Neveah, with middle name Amazin......

I recently heard about a baby named Angel Nevaeh, but let's cut the parents some slack because she lived just 3 days.

On one of the Judge shows today the lady's name was Candida made me think of yeast.

We had a daddy this week "what's your name for the birth certificate" Leroy Leroy Jones Jr thanks goodness they had a girl

Actually in our paper this week under marriage licenses there was a groom named Nicholas Payne...Nick Payne?

We had two new ones last week... Steele and the last name also started with an St so it seemed even more odd to me. And the other was Halen, we named the baby we lost Halyn since I thought I'd never hear it at the playground... well apparently it'll be out there anyway uggh.
