Hi, I was wondering about some of those weird names that you've probably encountered in L&D and PP. I remember when I had my maternity rotation a couple of weeks ago, one of the nurses said she remembers a patient that named her child Placenta. I couldn't believe it that some child has to live his life named after disgusting afterbirth!
when i was still a BSN student, i overheard a dad saying he wanted his newborn daughter to be named after his ex-GF.....SHOKLAH! waaaaattt???
ok TODAY my patients name was Tequila (claims her mom didn't know it was alcohol when she had her 18 yrs ago...the grandmother is an x-ray transported at my hospital) she had a baby today and that baby's name is..................
Champane Maria Unique....but it's spelled different then the drink so it's ok. I told the grandma pretty soon they'd have to open a bar.....maybe she'll have a boy next year and name him Jose Quervo and be a friend of mine :)
ANyone ever have a goth chick as a patient? They can come up with some good ones. Most memorable was a girl in my graduating high school class named her daughter "Shiktriga"-some kind of Romanian name for female vampire. When I worked in a peds office a local goth/heavy metal band member and his wife named their son Draven-after Jason Lee's character in The Crow. My 17yr old neighbor just told me she's pregnant and the father wants to name him Anakin Jedi So-and-So. She told me she's got better sense than that and wants to name it something more traditional. Here's hoping:uhoh21:.
I have a few for you. I used to work in pediatrics and we got a lot of strange names.
Special K (last name started with a K)
Dominator
Jake (pronounced Jakie, I didn't see the pink blanket until after I said Jake and started taking the family back into an exam room, parents looked at me like a moron, not my problem they wanted to spell it that way)
Princess
Also, my friend dated a guy whos name was Richard Wacker (not sure if that is the correct spelling of the last name), he was like third or fourth generation Richard Wacker.
My mom knew someone named Dorcus and Dotcom (again, not sure about the spelling).
Dorcus is another spelling for Dorcas, a biblical name...
I forgot about my sister in laws kids. They all have okay/normalish first names but odd or off middle names
Ayden Drizzt
Aurora Ryvyn
Tristan Rune
I can't remember but I think they are from dungeons and dragons characters??
Last year my daughter had a classmate named Princess.
I took care of a patient named Princess a few years ago......but she was a horse.
I knew someone named Princess, she was an adult. So I am guessing that her parents were sort of revolutionaries heehee She is probably about 30 now, give or take 3-4 years.
A while back, a woman in my area whose first name was Queen died.
Her maiden name was King.
Queen King - no kidding.
Shitake...(weird) !!! I had a couple name their baby this...Isnt that a type of mushroom???
