Ours is actually good. It's chicken nachos - basically shredded chicken breast with melted cheddar on top, served with a side of tostitos. And a banana on the side, LOL.
Edited to add that this is not one of the meals that will increase my visits later. Sometimes it is something that none of the kids will eat so they all come see me later with headaches or stomach aches from being hungry, or it is some weird combo that makes them just not feel great.
Today we have pizza, salad, carrots, a fruit and milk. The kids like the pizza, so I won't have many headaches and stomach aches today, but a lot of my kids don't eat the food and I have this issue. Our head nurse said they are trying to change the food service so we can have better food for the kids (That's the main complaint, the food is gross)
Cheese Stuffed Breadsticks with Marinara Sauce
OR
PB and J Uncrustable Meal with Doritos
Above With:
Green Beans
Baby Carrots
Fresh Orange and Juice
1% Plain or Skim Chocolate Milk
I don't eat the cafeteria food; they don't season the vegetables, and all of the main courses seem to be fairly spicy. There are rarely good choices for the kids with GI issues. Everything is either spicy, or contains tomato products, it seems. We're obviously not peanut-free here.
well since i am reading this on Friday, it is pizza today, which is OK, not the greatest, but not the worst either.
BUT, if I had read this yesterday, Thursday, it was fish sticks! NOONE eats this stuff!! Elementary school level.
I mean the menu here is HORRIBLE and the food is gross! The amount that gets thrown away could feed a small country, it is truly sad.
The guy on the news here used to always end the school lunch menu with ,"and a big fat yeast roll!", with spirit. That's been a quarter of a century ago and I still remember. Thanks news guy!
Frito pie sounds really yummy. I don't remeber ever having tacos or chips or anything mexican, darn. Pizza day was good. Back in the day they used to give the boys at my high school, 2 rolls, and the girls, just one. That was the best part of the whole dang lunch, all hot and fluffy. One day I asked and did get 2...such a trailblazer for women's rights.

Farawyn (sorry content blockers at my school disable my ability to reply or quote) my guide to Chicago pizza:
Deep dish--garbage. Throw it away unless you like choking on cheese. Find a place that is "(Italian Last Name)'s Pizza" and order an extra thin crispy crust pizza. That stuff's gold. But if I have to choke on cheese I'll choke on Giordano's cheese.
