Whats your online go-to site, w/ nursing-medical questions????
http://www.nursingconsult.com is really good.
Do you have to pay to be a member of this site? Thanks!
Nurse.com started with merger of Nursing Spectrum and Nurseweek websites about 2 years ago....I've been a member of their forums since about 2002. They have great CEU articles. My health system has given all nurses free access so we can get our mandatory CE credits for nursing licensure. I also receive Nursing Spectrum along with Advance for RN's biweekly news'jobs magazines. Neither of their websites has the hundreds of nursing forums with sticked areas containing links to quality nursing and medical sites like allnurses which is all volunteer run (only paid staffer is founder/owner Brian). We are nurses and nursing students giving back to the nursing community @ AN. :)
I use our drop down menu under search above to access Medline Plus for diagnosis and drug searches. Another site with great indepth articles and journal content is medscape nurses. Thumps up to to emedicine website, another of my favorites. We are hoping to see our nursing articles forum have more indepth content like they have in the future.
I didn't have any problem getting a user name over at http://forums.nurse.com/ I didn't see anything that said there was any kind of restriction picking one?
I have seen many of the members here, over there also, and they have the same user names. I chose a different user name over there. Not on purpose just didn't even think about it at the time. I'm new here and new there. If I had been here for a while and then went over there I would have kept the same user name. I enjoy visiting both sites. Kinda like switching channels on the TV. That's not a bad thing right?
Usually Ovid first, then MDConsult.
Most, if not all university-affiliated hospitals allow nurses to access these data bases. I worked at a non-universtiy hospital where I had access, and of course, university students should have access.
MDConsult has online medical textbooks, which can be worth the price of admission.

Thanks for this hint. I've just checked it out and it seems helpful.

I mostly use google for meds, and certain things, and it directs me to other websites. For other things, I use allnurses. It's not only a great place to vent/talk/celebrate, it really has wonderful resources that are amazingly useful.
