Ours last year was a Walmart card for $50. Probably the same this year.
Our hospital gives bonuses based on "consistently meeting expected requirements for job"
In other words, if your yearly evals are above 3.00, you receive a bonus.
This year, for RNs, 3.00 =$800, higher evals =higher bonus
Bonuses are across the board, dietary, housekeeping, aides, RNs, etc.
Not sure what, if any, kind of bonus we will be getting. I'm not holding my breath for anything exciting.
My place started this "Reward Incentive" program. If you're good, you get points to use to pick merchandise from a catalog. An employee's b-day gets 5 points. The stuff in the catalog is nice enough, but they never handed out a list of point prices.
I did get 200 points for picking up 2 extra shifts....
I got roughly $450 after tax for my bonus. Bonuses are for all hourly employees and are worked out from your hourly rate/amount of hours put in. They gave it on Thanksgiving.
For Christmas we get a $25 gift card for a local supermarket. There is also a holiday employee luncheon but I don't normally attend as I work nocs and it's from 1130 to 1430.
Reading everyone elses responses I realize I'm quite lucky.
My fiance gets a turkey from UPS, which I thought was intersting.I just got a letter in the mail from work and attached to it were two tickets to a local movie theatre. I thought it was nice, especially becuase I wasn't expecting anything!
Hmmmm... some posters here may recall that last Christmas, I ordered a smoked turkey that was meant to be delivered via UPS and it never arrived...
I just started working for a medium sized LTC, I've only been there for a couple of weeks, and I'm still on orientation. I got a card the other day with $25 in it - which surprised me, because I was so new. I'm sure the regular employees get more.
This LTC is one of the few privately owned left in our area - I called the DON, who is also new in the last 3 months, and she said that they gave her one, too. She said the owners didn't want anyone to feel left out.
The hospital used to give all employees a $25 gift certificate to Walmart, but a couple of years ago they changed it to a gift certificate to buy merchandise - with THEIR name on it. I never used mine.
Bonus? We don't even get holiday pay for working. Had to pay for the xmas party but at least it included ONE drink ticket for the cash bar.
My puter-programmer hubby got a gift cert to a local grocery store for Thanksgiving (gave to adult child living on her own), and they pay for a nice holiday luncheon for them, including kicking off work at 1pm (paid) and an open bar at the place they go. Shame spouses aren't included
At one hospital I worked for, they gave us quarterly bonuses based on meeting goals, and that was nice - up to 250$ a quarter - taxed, but heck it WAS extra cash. Never hurts.

You've got to be kidding me.....How is that a gift if you're paying for it. Tell 'em to take it back. LOL...
